Mary Y. Marsh '70

Mary Marsh graduated from Butler in 1970 with a
bachelor's degree in pre-law/political science. While at Butler,
Mary was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, Kappa Alpha
Theta, Theta Sigma Phi, YM-YWCA, WRA, AWS, and Spurs. She was also
an AFROTC Queen, Angel Flight Comptroller and a Hub and Spoke Award
Winner.
As an alumna, Mary has kept her ties with Butler as an
enthusiastic volunteer. She served on the Alumni Board from
1977-84, holding the position of president from 1980-81. She has
also participated in a number of campus committees including the
Presidential Society Committee, Partnership for Excellence Campaign
Corporate Committee, Alumni Engagement and Alumni Steering
Committees, and more recently the committees for the President's
Dinner and Dance in 2005 and the ButlerRising Gala this past fall.
Mary currently serves on the Endowment and Investment Committee,
the Ovid Butler Society Executive Committee and the ButlerRising
Campaign Committee.
Mary and her husband John '71, have been members of the Ovid
Butler Society since 1989. Over the years, they have contributed to
a number of campus funds including the George Comfort Library Fund,
the Bulldog Club and the Howard Caldwell Scholarship Fund, to name
a few. They are regular attendees of Butler sporting events, and
recently followed the men's basketball team on their NCAA journey
to Buffalo and St. Louis.
Mary began her professional career with Merchants Bank (now
National City Bank) as an administrative assistant soon after
graduating from Butler. After graduating from Indiana University
School of Law in 1974, Mary continued working at National City,
dedicating her legal career to trust administration. In 2001, Mary
retired from the bank as senior vice president and manager of the
Trust Administration Group, after an impressive 32-year career.
Mary and John have two children, Amy '96, M.S. '00 and Alex.
