He was a leader during his years as a student and continues his
quest for excellence today as a professional in the world of
cash-flow, financial projections and spreadsheets. In addition to
excelling in his pursuit of an undergraduate degree in actuarial
science, John Currier '92 filled his time with numerous student
leadership activities. He was the founding president of the Student
Actuarial Science Club and served as president of the Student YMCA.
He also led a number of efforts, including the YMCA Hunger and
Homelessness Project and was a Freshman Weekend counselor. He was a
Solon E. Sommerfield Scholar, a Butler University Scholar and was
among the Alumni Association's Top Ten Male Students in 1991 and
1992. He remains and active supporter of the University today by
serving as a Butler Alumni Recruiting Corps (BARC) volunteer,
Student YMCA Board of Managers member and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity
House Corporation alumni president.
An associate of the Society of Actuaries and member of the
American Academy of Actuaries, John began his professional career
as a consulting actuary in 1990 with Beckly & Associates
Actuarial Consultants, supplying actuarial expertise and analysis
to insurance companies and regulatory agencies. He currently serves
as an actuary for CONSECO Companies, working in Life Product
Development
John sees himself as a "big picture" person. He is committed to
excelling in his chosen field and to continually improving himself,
his work product and the organizations with which he is involved.
Considering his accomplishments thus far, it is certain that he
will attain his goals--as they relate to his career and to a
continued strong relationship with his alma mater
