Denis E. Ribordy ~ Endowed Scholarship
Denis E.
Ribordy is a College of Pharmacy alumnus, class of 1952. His wife
Carolyn McClurg Ribordy is a 1954 alumna of the college. Denis
Ribordy began his pharmacy career as a partner in the Hill Drug Co.
in Augusta, Ga. In 1955, he had the opportunity to buy a drugstore
in Gary, Ind., and then became the founder and president of Ribordy
Drugs, Inc., a 26-store retail drug chain that was sold to Walgreen
Company in 1985. He then became president and CEO of Ribordy
Enterprises, which held eight Hallmark shops that were sold in
1992. He has been a longtime leader in many professional and civic
organizations, and is a trustee emeritus of Butler University's
Board of Trustees. He received the Alumni Association Achievement
Award in 1983.
The Denis E. Ribordy Endowed Scholarship was established in 2002
by Denis and Carolyn Ribordy to provide financial assistance to
deserving Butler students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy and
Health Sciences. Preference is given to a P3 (fifth year) or P4
(sixth year) student who is interested in community pharmacy.
