Darrell Pike has worked in commercial real estate since his
teens. Currently president of Precedent Real Estate Services, LLC
and Precedent Development's Commercial Division, he began his
career with Precedent founder Howard Peterson when Peterson began
the development of Castleton Commercial Park in northeast
Indianapolis. Darrell also oversees the management and marketing of
the Precedent Office Park, a development of more than 187 acres
with currently over a million square feet of commercial office
space and with a potential of 1.5 million when completed. He is
included in Indianapolis Business Journal 's top 25 of
Who's Who in commercial real estate. Darrell also serves as
director of the Precedent Companies, Inc., Precedent Capital,
Precedent Homes, Western Hancock Utilities and Security Title
Services of Indiana.
Darrell, his wife, Susan '73, and daughter, Michele '00, are all
Butler alumni. Darrell and Susan have established two scholarship
funds at Butler in memory of Darrell's father, Donald '50, and his
aunt, Janet Off '58. Darrell and Susan are members of the Ovid
Butler Society and together served on the 1973 reunion and
fundraising committee of their graduation class.
Darrell's outside activities include being the past president of
Lawrence Central High School's Performing Arts Association, where
he currently serves as its corporate liaison. He serves on the
Property Stewardship Board of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and has
served on the board of the American Lung Association. He is also a
graduate of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Stanley K. Lacy
Leadership Series, is a member of the Big Brothers Association and
the Hoosier Association. He has served as a paraclete counselor
with the Christian Encouraging Ministry and has been involved in
the foster parent program with the Lutheran Child and Family
Services Unwed Mother Program. After delivering the commencement
address in December 1996, Darrell received an honorary doctorate in
business management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
A life-long resident of Indianapolis, Darrell and Susan have
four children, Kacy, Michele, Kevin and Jimmy.
Darrell's devotion to his family, to the Butler community and to
the Indianapolis area is boundless. As Katharine Merrill Graydon
devoted her energy and heart to Butler University, so does Darrell.
