Craig Davenport '91
Craig Davenport is currently the director of drug
development and managing director for Eli Lilly in Kobe, Japan. In
this role he is responsible for research and development activities
conducted in and for Japan, the world's second largest
pharmaceutical market.
Craig graduated from Butler in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in
pharmacy. While there, he was an Eisenhower Memorial Scholar and a
Butler University Faculty Scholar. Craig was selected as one of
Butler's Top Ten Male Students three years in a row and the
Outstanding Male Student in 1990. Among many activities, he served
as Vice President of Membership in the Phi Kappa Psi
Fraternity.
Following graduation, Craig stayed involved with Butler by
serving on his fraternity's House Corporation for three years and
received the chapter's Blake Burkhard Bushman Award for Outstanding
Alumni Service. His continued service to Butler includes membership
on the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Board of Visitors
and the Ovid Butler Society. He received the Joseph Irwin Sweeney
Alumni Service Award in 1996. In 2004, he was honored as one of the
College of Pharmacy and Health Science's inaugural class of
Distinguished Alumni.
Craig enjoys living in Japan with his wife and three children,
ages 7, 5 and 2. Craig continues to work toward bringing promising
new drugs to the Japanese market.
