Why Butler?

Why Butler Big

big

If you want the benefits of a large university, take a close look at Butler. We are one university with six colleges, so there's plenty to choose from. We have state-of-the-art facilities for learning, one of the largest public observatories in the world and a fieldhouse that is a major fixture in basketball history. Plus, we're in Indianapolis, with its big city advantages.

We're also big into opening doors for our students. Butler graduates find great internships and jobs through our career center and alumni network, and benefit from a liberal arts education that prepares them for the big challenges of 21st century jobs.

Why Butler Medium

medium

At Butler, medium isn't a compromise between big and small. It's the best of both worlds. Here, "medium" doesn't mean "average." Our students are exceptional leaders in the classroom, on the field and in the community. The opportunities we have for academic study and work experience are unique and life-changing. And our men's basketball team proved a medium-sized school can compete for the national championship. Our size is intentional and it's one of our greatest assets.

Why Butler Small

small

Butler is the kind of school where you know everyone by name. This foundation is important to every aspect of the Butler experience: student organizations, athletics, sororities and fraternities, performing arts groups, and academics. We believe in an environment where students and faculty collaborate and learn from each other and an education that gives each student the options and opportunities to succeed. At Butler, small means focused. It means accessible. It means personalized.

So, Why Butler?

That's the question we hear most often. What makes us different, unique? A lot of it has to do with our location and our size. We're a medium-sized school in a big city with small classes. You'll be hard-pressed to find that combination many other places. Butler is the type of place where everyone is involved in something, and oftentimes lots of things. You'll know your classmates and our faculty members. You won't get lost in the crowd. But you'll also have a big community to support you for the rest of your life. So, read the statistics. Find out what our alumni are doing. We hope you can picture yourself here, whether you're looking for big, medium, or small because we think that what we have is really just right.

Mission

Butler's mission is to provide the highest quality of liberal and professional education and to integrate the liberal arts with professional education, by creating and fostering a stimulating intellectual community built upon interactive dialogue and inquiry among students, faculty, and staff.
