Self-Service Tools
Looking for an easy way to make content for your college, division, or campus group?
University Marketing will begin using Adobe Express on August 3, 2026 to expand campus-wide access to Butler-branded marketing assets alongside the launch of our new brand hub. This user-friendly design tool gives faculty and staff access to vector art, photography, templates, the University’s full brand toolkit, and more.
With a vast library of built-in templates, you can create a wide range of materials, including:
- Flyers
- Social media posts
- Presentation slides
- Signage
- Digital screen graphics
- Posters
Resources for current Canva Butler members
As Butler transitions from Canva to Adobe Express, Canva Butler accounts will revert to Canva free accounts and access to premium Canva features and Butler-branded resources will no longer be available.
If you have designs, assets, or content that you’d like to keep, please export them before August 31. For materials you may want to recreate in the future, we recommend downloading designs as PDFs. While the design itself will need to be recreated using Butler’s new brand style, a PDF preserves your content and layout as a reference. This can make it easier to recreate materials in Adobe Express using Butler’s new branded templates.
Per IT, current Canva members will NOT receive the annual charge-back in August.
See below FAQs for more details on the status of your Canva account and designs.

Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve seen incredible work come out of the increased brand autonomy across campus and we’ve evaluated that Adobe Express is ultimately best positioned to further advance that work post our August evolved brand launch.
- Adobe Express provides ideal integration with Adobe InDesign and the broader Adobe ecosystem, allowing University Marketing to create professionally designed templates to be used across the institution.
- While Canva’s prices continue to rise, Adobe Express will be available across colleges and divisions at no cost.
- The design tool suite, vector art, and template library Adobe Express offers is nearly identical to Canva for a seamless user experience.
After our Canva Butler contract ends on August 31, users will lose access to Canva Enterprise features: premium templates, resizing tools, graphics, etc. Any designs created will still exist in individual accounts, but the premium elements within those designs will become watermarked or inaccessible. That’s why we recommend that all users download any files you want to keep in their current format before the end date. Even if watermarked, the text itself within your designs will be accessible later.
Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to continue to use their own free or paid versions of Canva for personal projects and internal materials. However, since you will no longer have access to built-in, approved Butler brand elements, we ask that you leverage our incoming brand hub when producing Butler-branded content. There, you’ll find everything you need to familiarize yourself with the University’s official hex codes, fonts, logos, and more. These are not downloadables; the brand hub will be a resource for you to create your own materials without the use of branded templates. The brand hub will launch August 3 on butler.edu–more details to come this summer.
Adobe Express will primarily be used by faculty and staff. University Marketing will work with all colleges and divisions to identify student workers who will need Adobe Express and work with IT to get them access. Details to come.
Students are welcome to use the free version of Canva or independently purchase Canva Pro, using Butler’s new brand hub as a resource if creating Butler-branded content. After August 31, students with Canva Butler will not be able to use premium features or access built-in Butler brand elements.
Unfamiliar with principles of design? Struggling with how to prioritize information on your flyer or postcard?
University Marketing will host regular workshops on how to leverage Adobe Express effectively. Learn principles of design, how to arrange information, steps for printing your designs with Campus Impressions, and more through training with our designers. Be on the lookout for these opportunities on Butler Today following the August 3 launch.
