About Me:

My name is Steph, and I am a senior Marketing major with a Communication Studies minor. Since this is my last year at Butler, my main goal is to enjoy every moment that I have left, while doing as much as humanly possible. I am a marketing analyst at the Butler Business Accelerator, a Speakers Lab tutor, and a Butler blogger (obviously). I also am an Alpha Phi, the President of the Butler University Student Foundation, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi (a professional business fraternity), and a member of the Butler American Marketing Association. In the small amount of free time that I do have, I love crafting, watching large amounts of television, and enjoying my favorite comfort foods, like sweet tea.

Events on Events on Events: The Life of a Butler Senior

At Butler, everyone loves to honor and appreciate the seniors…which I love.  For the last few weeks, we have had special events all the time, which has made life busy but obviously really fun…

Top 100

This year I was fortunate enough to be selected as a part of the Top 100 Students at Butler, along with one of the other bloggers, Olivia!  It is such an honor to be a part of that group of students, and they held a wonderful dinner to celebrate the program and to announce the Top 10 men and women at Butler.  I think the night of the dinner was when my parents and I started to realize that I’m almost done….and that the last 4 years have just flown by.   Also – a special Congratulations goes out to Olivia for being named to the Top 10 women!

Senior Brunch

At the end of Alpha Phi’s Senior Week we always have a brunch for the seniors and their parents.  We eat the traditional Saturday brunch that we have loved on for the last 4 years, our littles each say a few nice words about us, they sing some songs that are special to Alpha Phi, and they give away a few senior awards.  It was just an all around amazing time to spend with my sorority sisters and our parents, because they all hear us talk about Alpha Phi, but I don’t think that they ever really understand what the sisterhood means to us all, until they see it at an event like the Senior Brunch.

Senior Wills

Every year during Senior Week at Alpha Phi, we have a time where the seniors hand down all of their Alpha Phi attire, memorabilia, and anything else random that we have accumulated over the years.  Some people give away everything, but I really wasn’t ready to part with some of my things just yet…so I kept some of my favorite shirts and sweatshirts.  Partially I kept some because I like them so much, and partially because I wouldn’t have any other clothes to wear if I did.  But I did pass along quite a few good things, like my A Phi license plate, a Sarah Palin calendar, and some crafts I made over the years.

Everything I passed down during Senior Wills.

A Wrap-Up of my Junior Year…Part I

During the school year I have a pretty busy and eventful life…so sometimes I don’t get to blog about everything that I want to…which is where this blog comes in.  Here is the last few weeks of my Junior year…because I missed them before…and they were just too much fun to leave out.

Spring Sports Spectacular

I love Spring Sports…it is a 12 hour long sporting event where we all compete in every single event that you could ever imagine…all to benefit the Special Olympics.  This year I did euchre, shuffleboard, Wii Just Dance II, a relay race, and I volunteered.  I tend to stray away from the really active things, and instead I go for the fun easy things that don’t take much experience sports wise.  This year I was also actually successful, as my partner, Amanda, and I got 3rd in shuffleboard, I got 2nd in Wii Just Dance II, and the pair that beat my euchre partner, Kodi, and I ended up winning it all.  Basically, we were 2nd place.

Whoohoo! 3rd Place in Shuffleboard!

Butler’s Top 100 Students Banquet

Every year, Butler selects the Top 100 students, and this year I was fortunate enough to be selected as one.  So on the Friday before the Final Four game, my parents and grandparents came up to go to the Banquet with me.  Mostly, it was wonderful to get to see them, because I was starting to get rather homesick at that point (I was too busy this year to go home as much as I would like), but it was also just a great night to spend with Butler faculty, staff, and other students and their families.  If you didn’t know, some really great students go to Butler…
