About Me:

My name is Steph, and I am a senior Marketing major with a Communication Studies minor. Since this is my last year at Butler, my main goal is to enjoy every moment that I have left, while doing as much as humanly possible. I am a marketing analyst at the Butler Business Accelerator, a Speakers Lab tutor, and a Butler blogger (obviously). I also am an Alpha Phi, the President of the Butler University Student Foundation, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi (a professional business fraternity), and a member of the Butler American Marketing Association. In the small amount of free time that I do have, I love crafting, watching large amounts of television, and enjoying my favorite comfort foods, like sweet tea.

The Ultimate “Pick-Me-Up”: Springtime at Butler

I love Butler for many reasons….but one of the main ones is simply springtime at Butler.  There is truly nothing like it, and this spring somehow seems more beautiful than every other year.  At least once a week…or two or three times…I find myself stopping to take photos or to Instagram a photo of something on campus.  I basically just can’t get enough of this time of year at a place as beautiful as Butler.

If you don’t believe me about how perfect it is…check out these photos….

My view during a class…outside!

That’s right… as a second semester senior… I finally had a class outside!  Thank you, Dr. Mackoy, for helping me achieve one of my senior year goals/bucket list items…only a week and a half before the end of the semester.  Now I can try to get a professor to take us outside for my second outside class of my college career… just so I can continue to love on this perfect weather and beautiful place that I get to call home for a few more weeks.  I truly don’t know if I could make it through this time in my life (graduating, moving on from college life, being outrageously busy) if I didn’t love spring so much.  I just can’t help but be happy when I see something like this… everywhere I go!

Senior Year Goal: Have a Class Outside

In one of my classes we came up with our Senior Bucket List at the beginning of the semester, with all of the things that we still want to do before we leave campus.  There are several things that are on my list that I’m not sharing for several reasons… (mostly because I don’t want to give away my awesome ideas)…. but I thought I could safely share this one.

As soon as it is somewhat nice outside, some professors start having class outside.  There are areas on campus with benches, shaded grass, and other places that are comfortable and that have room for an entire class to hang out in one area.  The only problem is that the majority of professors that take their students outside for class are LAS professors….and I’m a Business student.  So even though I have taken at least 5 classes a semester, I’ve never had a class outside.  For some it totally makes sense…because they need the whiteboard, projector, or something else electronic and non-portable to have class…but some classes could totally happen outside…even though they are business classes.

Since I graduate in approximately 51 days…. (I’m holding back my intense need to freak out with this realization)…. I’ve decided that I NEED to experience having class outside before I graduate.  Every other semester I have brushed off the idea of this luxury by considering my business classes to be too important to go outside.  Concentration isn’t the easiest when it’s beautiful outside and there is grass all around you to play with…as we all know.  But still, I want to spend at least one class period outside…so now begins my lobbying effort with each of my professors.  I figure that one will understand/feel bad for me…so I’m just going to keep bringing up the idea and talking about it until someone gives in.  To give you an idea of how perfect/nice it is outside at Butler right now… here is a video I made a few years ago.  Check it out!
