About Me:

My name is Steph, and I am a senior Marketing major with a Communication Studies minor. Since this is my last year at Butler, my main goal is to enjoy every moment that I have left, while doing as much as humanly possible. I am a marketing analyst at the Butler Business Accelerator, a Speakers Lab tutor, and a Butler blogger (obviously). I also am an Alpha Phi, the President of the Butler University Student Foundation, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi (a professional business fraternity), and a member of the Butler American Marketing Association. In the small amount of free time that I do have, I love crafting, watching large amounts of television, and enjoying my favorite comfort foods, like sweet tea.

A Day in the Life of Stephanie…Spring 2011 Edition

Now that we are about a month into the semester…I officially have the hang of my schedule.  It took longer than normal this semester because of Snowpocalypse….but now I think I actually understand how it all works…so I will give you a glimpse of my schedule on a random day….enjoy…

  • 8:00 a.m. – Wake up….check Twitter, Facebook, and my email….while eating breakfast.  (At my house we have a hot breakfast every morning…so this is usually french toast sticks and bacon…yum.)
  • 8:30 a.m. – Get ready for class..
  • 9:35 a.m. – Marketing Research…..
  • 11:00 a.m. – Career Planning & Development…..the COB likes to take care of us…and make sure that we know what we are doing with our lives in the future.
  • 12:15 p.m. – Lunch back at Phi…
  • 1:00 p.m. – Check my email…prep for class…and hang out at Starbucks…
  • 2:25 p.m. – Advertising & Promotion Management…basically the best class I have taken at Butler.  It is a great way to spend the afternoon if you ask me.
  • 4:00 p.m. – Work in Speakers Lab…

Hangin out in Speakers Lab....

  • 6:00 p.m. – Dinner….
  • 7:00 p.m. – BUSF meeting…
  • 8:00 p.m. – Study…
  • 9:00 p.m. – AKPsi meeting….
  • 10:00 p.m. – Study until…I fall asleep.

Basically my life is booked solid….and I rarely have time to just chill out….but I like it that way.  At the beginning of the semester when I didn’t have as much to do…I felt lost….and just sat around while I tried to decide what to do with myself.  But by being busy all the time, I make the most of my time….for instance…when I don’t have time to go to the HRC to work out…I do a workout video in my room….and watch my shows on Hulu at the same time.  This morning I caught up on the latest Desperate Housewives this way….and tomorrow I will do Grey’s Anatomy probably.

So that is a glimpse of my life…if you have any questions about student life at Butler, don’t hesitate to ask!

My Unfortunate Day…or Week….

Right now, it is late Thursday afternoon…and I have no idea what has happened to this week.  No idea…whatsoever.  Well, that is kind of a lie.  I do know what happened to this week…and what that was…was Tuesday.  Tuesday happened.  Confused?  Well, let me explain.

On Tuesdays, I have 4 classes.  I start out my day bright and early at 8:00 a.m. with Intro to Marketing Management, then I go to Business Law once that finishes, and once that is done, I go to Business and Professional Communication.  Then I have lunch, check my email and get caught up on random stuff, then I go to Buda Khi at the HRC.  After I burn all of the calories that I have consumed in the day thus far, I go to work, and after that I usually start my outrageous night of meetings.  This Tuesday was a little bit different though, because it was like that….but even more intense.  It was so intense because I had a test in all three of my morning classes.  Yeah.  3 tests before noon.  What a great day!  And because of this, I didn’t sleep much for the couple days before that….and when I was awake I was usually making notecards, reading, or doing anything that would make the material stick in my brain.  So I hadn’t been very productive for basically the week before that, and then that day I was pretty shot again….and then yesterday I was still somehow recuperating/figuring out my life all over again.  And now I am trying to get back in the jive of doing stuff, instead of just napping to catch up on sleep, which is super strange.  Today I took my two to-do lists and basically combined what was left to do on them, and added everything else that I need to work on…and now I have 5 separate to-do lists.  Yeah….I’m outrageous…but I am trying to be productive….really!  I really am….although one of my best qualities is how good I am at procrastinating…kind of like this girl…

This isn't me....but that is exactly how I feel right now.

A Chaotic Week of Fun…

Wow, the past week has completely flown by!! I really hope that the entire year doesn’t go by this fast. My classes have been alright, they would be much better though if I was in the doing stuff for classes mode already. It takes me a little while to get into that mindset, and by then I am already behind, so that stinks. But in my Freshman Business Experience class we are getting ready to start working on our project that is our main grade, so tomorrow morning we find out what group we are in, which is what we have all been waiting for for the past two weeks! The suspense is killing me, especially since we are put into the groups according to our personality styles, so I really want to know what kind of personality the computer says that I have. :)

Last week I ventured out to the HRC for the first time, once to go to a Hip Hop class, and once just to work out. I was pumped for the Hip Hop class, and it was completely amazing. It was an intense hour-long workout, but so much fun at the same time. Then the next day I just did the bicycle thing…which wasn’t as fun, even though there was a TV in front of it. (I’m obsessed with watching TV, my roommate always makes fun of how I turn it on every time I just walk into the room.) I didn’t like that as much as the class, because I’ve never been that dedicated to working out to just do the same thing for a prolonged period of time. Maybe for 10 minutes, but that’s pushing it.

So I have always prided myself on my exceptional sense of direction, but last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I didn’t do too well driving places around town. :( First I got lost on my way to my cousin’s house for dinner, because apparently 56th street ends and then picks up somewhere else in Indy. Good to know, good to know. The other days I think I was just not confident with myself like I usually am, so I basically cursed myself. But in my defense, one of those times the directions from Google Maps were partially not on the paper, because it printed out kinda strangely, so we just guessed where to go, and I think that we did pretty well!!!

On Saturday I tried out for the Butler Dance Team, and I made it!! :) It was an intense day of learning stuff and trying to get it all down and do it well. I haven’t danced in awhile though, so I was really nervous and on Sunday morning I was REALLY sore. It hurt to walk, to sit, to stand, everything. But I think it will all be worth it, because I haven’t danced all summer, and I really missed it. So if you come to a basketball game or anything, be sure to check us out!! :)

On Friday I was just walking around campus with my friend Chris, and I took a bunch of photos of some really pretty places on campus (which is pretty much everywhere right now!!). I love just walking around right now though…it is absolutely beautiful! Sometimes when I am walking into Schwitzer, I just have to like remind myself that I get to live here for the rest of the year. It’s pretty sweet. All the pictures are in my photo album, but I think that this is my favorite one….

If you have read my past blogs, you probably know that I really like my room…so i decided to make a video of it, and show all of you where I live… :) And Hannah and I had to clean my room for it, so you had better enjoy it! Just kidding….but really….I hope you like it. I do…:)
