About Me:

My name is Steph, and I am a senior Marketing major with a Communication Studies minor. Since this is my last year at Butler, my main goal is to enjoy every moment that I have left, while doing as much as humanly possible. I am a marketing analyst at the Butler Business Accelerator, a Speakers Lab tutor, and a Butler blogger (obviously). I also am an Alpha Phi, the President of the Butler University Student Foundation, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi (a professional business fraternity), and a member of the Butler American Marketing Association. In the small amount of free time that I do have, I love crafting, watching large amounts of television, and enjoying my favorite comfort foods, like sweet tea.

And finally…it’s time for fall season premieres!

For the last few months…I haven’t watched TV.  Let me rephrase that…I haven’t watched TV much.  I have about 5 or 6 shows that I love to watch…but since they are just reruns during the summer, I usually don’t watch them then.  So I spend most of my time watching shows on Bravo and USA that are only on during the summer.  But this week….my shows returned.  This is the week that I have been waiting for for months….and I didn’t even have time to watch any of my shows.

This last week was crazy….to say the least.  Basically I didn’t get done with meetings and other things until after 10 each night, so there was definitely no time to sit down and watch all of my favorite shows premiere.  I completely forgot about all of these new shows to watch until today, so now I am trying to multi-task by watching my shows at the same time that I do other things…like writing blogs, checking emails, and sorting my laundry.  Hopefully…I will get all of my stuff done…and I can get caught up on my TV too.

I really want to get caught up on my TV so that this week, I can watch some shows in the TV room here at Alpha Phi. We unfortunately don’t have TV in our room (we have a TV, but it isn’t hooked up to cable or an antenna) so we all watch the big shows (Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, Glee, Modern Family, etc.) in the TV room, together.  When you actually get to watch them it is tons of fun, but when you are too busy and you have to walk by the room packed full of people…its kind of depressing…not going to lie.  I’ve already caught up on The Office and Grey’s Anatomy….so I only have Modern Family and Glee to to still.  Will I make it???

A Day in the Life of Stephanie…Spring 2011 Edition

Now that we are about a month into the semester…I officially have the hang of my schedule.  It took longer than normal this semester because of Snowpocalypse….but now I think I actually understand how it all works…so I will give you a glimpse of my schedule on a random day….enjoy…

  • 8:00 a.m. – Wake up….check Twitter, Facebook, and my email….while eating breakfast.  (At my house we have a hot breakfast every morning…so this is usually french toast sticks and bacon…yum.)
  • 8:30 a.m. – Get ready for class..
  • 9:35 a.m. – Marketing Research…..
  • 11:00 a.m. – Career Planning & Development…..the COB likes to take care of us…and make sure that we know what we are doing with our lives in the future.
  • 12:15 p.m. – Lunch back at Phi…
  • 1:00 p.m. – Check my email…prep for class…and hang out at Starbucks…
  • 2:25 p.m. – Advertising & Promotion Management…basically the best class I have taken at Butler.  It is a great way to spend the afternoon if you ask me.
  • 4:00 p.m. – Work in Speakers Lab…

Hangin out in Speakers Lab....

  • 6:00 p.m. – Dinner….
  • 7:00 p.m. – BUSF meeting…
  • 8:00 p.m. – Study…
  • 9:00 p.m. – AKPsi meeting….
  • 10:00 p.m. – Study until…I fall asleep.

Basically my life is booked solid….and I rarely have time to just chill out….but I like it that way.  At the beginning of the semester when I didn’t have as much to do…I felt lost….and just sat around while I tried to decide what to do with myself.  But by being busy all the time, I make the most of my time….for instance…when I don’t have time to go to the HRC to work out…I do a workout video in my room….and watch my shows on Hulu at the same time.  This morning I caught up on the latest Desperate Housewives this way….and tomorrow I will do Grey’s Anatomy probably.

So that is a glimpse of my life…if you have any questions about student life at Butler, don’t hesitate to ask!

And We’re Off! A Reintroduction to Steph….

It’s official.  My junior year of college is truly underway.  I had my first test yesterday, my second is tomorrow, and it’s time to start a new year of blogging!  So, just in case you are new to our blogs, here is a little bit about me….

I am Steph, a junior marketing major and communication studies minor here at Butler.  I love being outrageously busy, so in addition to my schoolwork, I am involved in TONS of clubs, and I work 3 different jobs.  Here is the list of my clubs on campus…prepare yourself.  My sorority (I am also a recruitment counselor, so for the next 4 months you won’t know which house I am in!); Butler’s professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi; Phi Eta Sigma, an honor fraternity; Blue Key, an honor society; Scholars for the Advancement of Business Leadership; Butler University Student Foundation; Butler College Democrats; and I think I am joining Butler American Marketing Association this year too!  And about my jobs, I am a blogger, I work in Butler’s Speakers Lab, and this year I babysit for a family who lives just outside of Indy one afternoon each week.  So I am rather busy, but it is a great busy, because I love everything that I do, and I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t!

So since you now know the more “normal” things about me, here are a few random facts that I don’t think I have ever shared on my blog before.

  • I love ketchup.  So much.  I think that ketchup should be one of the main food groups, all by itself.  I eat it on everything, from burgers and fries to barbecued chicken and baked potatoes.  Here are a few photos for you to see how intense my love of ketchup truly is…

All the ketchup I used for my rather small order of fries....

All the ketchup that I put on each individual fry...

  • I have been waiting for this Thursday for the past three months.  It is the season premiers of both The Office and Grey’s Anatomy, and so begins my weekly struggle to decide which show to watch each week since they are on at the same time.
  • I love getting mail, whether it is real mail, e-mail, or even messages on Facebook.  I love it so much….that I have been signing up my school address to receive completely useless mailings and coupons, just so I will have something in my mailbox when I look at it each day.  Don’t feel bad for me though, I’m just impatient that it is taking so long for me to start getting my hometown newspaper and other things I ususally get in the mail.

Everything is ok now, Grey’s Anatomy and The Office are back!!!!

Once again, I have lost track of time.  This seems to be a common theme of mine.  The past week has been pretty intense with classes, and my first few tests, and most importantly, the return of all of my favorite primetime shows!  :)   The Office and Greys Anatomy started on Thursday, and I’m currently watching Brothers and Sisters, but I missed the beginning of Desperate Housewives, so don’t tell me about what happened until I get the chance to see it online tomorrow!

This weekend I was busy with things for my Freshman Business Experience class… on Friday we went to a Forum with recent Butler grads, and they told us about what they do now, about their internships, and about their experiences here at Butler.  That was really cool, especially to hear what advice they had for us…for instance, what they wished that they had done while they were here and things of that sort.  Then on Saturday we finished our Get Real Weekend that we started two weeks ago, so we got to go out to the high and low ropes courses all day.  :)   It was an awesome day…and a great opportunity for our groups to form a bond and learn more about each other.  My personal favorite activity was the “Mine Field” where we had to guide a blindfolded person through a “Mine Field” (which was an area with a bunch of random toys scattered everywhere….my favorite was a stuffed penguin, closely followed by the rubber pig)  it was challenging, yet still fun because watching a blindfolded person tiptoe and shuffle through a mass of toys is always pretty funny.  :)   Then later that day we went on the high ropes course, which I wasn’t looking forward to because I am a HUGE wimp when it comes to heights, and after standing there with the harness and the helmet on for like thirty minutes, I decided that it just wasn’t going to happen.  I had tried something similar to it before, and it wasn’t the best experience…..mainly because of how much of a wimp I am.  But, all in all, it was an awesome day….and we learned so much.  :)   I have a video of the high ropes course that my friend Josh helped me out with (since I was a wimp)  that will be up sometime….:)  I might fill you in on more things that we did this weekend sometime….because there were so many activities that we did that I loved…it was basically a fun-filled day/weekend!

So this past week I realized that I am back to my usual “too-busy” self.  I interviewed for Alpha Kappa Psi (a business fraternity), and I am now a pledge, which is really exciting!!  But now that adds yet another activity to my list.  I love it being that way though.  :)   Having downtime makes me nervous….so I just make sure that I don’t have any.  lol…..for instance, on Wednesday night I didn’t have any meetings or anything, and I felt a massive cold/sinus thing coming on so I didn’t think I should go to the HRC, so I sat in my room and watched TV for the first time all year.  It was crazy.  So I pulled out a book and did some homework while I was watching TV.  That made me feel a little bit better….lol.

Last night my boyfriend Scott came to visit, and we went with some of my friends to the Old Spaghetti Factory….which I highly recommend.  It was pretty delicious.  :)   Except that they gave me a chinese food box to put my leftovers in??  I don’t understand what that was all about.  I kept thinking that the waiter would bring out the real box….but he didnt….so I just put my lasanga in that.  haha….

Well thats all I’ve got for now….now it’s back to homework….whoohoo!  Hopefully this week won’t go as fast as this past one did………..
