About Me:

My name is Steph, and I am a senior Marketing major with a Communication Studies minor. Since this is my last year at Butler, my main goal is to enjoy every moment that I have left, while doing as much as humanly possible. I am a marketing analyst at the Butler Business Accelerator, a Speakers Lab tutor, and a Butler blogger (obviously). I also am an Alpha Phi, the President of the Butler University Student Foundation, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi (a professional business fraternity), and a member of the Butler American Marketing Association. In the small amount of free time that I do have, I love crafting, watching large amounts of television, and enjoying my favorite comfort foods, like sweet tea.

A Day in the Life…for the last time.

Every semester, I write a blog about my daily schedule.  And now, since I graduate in a little bit over a month…this is my last one.  Another big change is that this is the most relaxed semester I have ever had, so don’t be alarmed by the large amounts of free time (they aren’t really that large…I just think having any free time at all is outrageous).  So, I present to you, my final daily schedule post…in the form of my typical Tuesday.

  • 7:00 a.m. (or whenever I get the motivation to get up) – Wake up and get ready for the day
  • 8:00 a.m. – Administrative Policy
  • 9:15 a.m. – First Starbucks visit of the day…usually to get some intense caffeine
  • 9:35 a.m. – International Marketing
  • 11:00 a.m. – Leadership & Decision Making
  • 12:15 p.m. – Lunch at Alpha Phi
  • 1:00 p.m. – Back to Starbucks…where I chat with people for as long as possible
  • 2:00 p.m (ish) – I start studying
  • 3:50 p.m. – Consumer Behavior
  • 5:05 p.m. – Dinner at Alpha Phi
  • 6:00 p.m. – Debrief from my day…and chill in my room
  • 7:00 p.m. – Butler University Student Foundation meeting
  • 8:00 p.m. – Back to my room for studying
  • 9:00 p.m. – If I have the motivation…I go work out.
  • 10:00 p.m. – I go back to my room and study/hang out
  • 12:30 a.m. (ish….usually later) – I fall asleep

It might seem like a pretty full day…but for me it is perfect.  I have time to be social, to hang out, to do homework, and to go to class.  And best of all, there is time for at least two visits to Starbucks.  It’s pretty much my second home these days….and I love it.  Sometimes…during my breaks I even see our own campus celebrities…Blue and Trip.  They’re basically the two best dogs/mascots ever…and they are oh so photogenic.  I only got photos of Trip though the other day…sorry Blue!

We’re going to the ‘ship…again!

I’m not going to lie, being a Butler student right now is basically unreal.  In a good way.  And the best part is that I felt this same way last year…when we went to the National Championship for the first time.

This time last year…I was buying my tickets for the game.  The game that was going to be starting about 4 hours later.  (Why plan ahead when you can wait until the last minute, right?)  This was possible only because the Championship last year was in Indy…which was just so convenient.  So we took a bus dowtown…and watched an amazing game….and I left being a prouder fan than I was before the game started.

This year is a little bit different.  The game is in Houston, which is about 18-20 hours away from Indianapolis, if you didn’t know.  So most people who were going to the game left on Thursday night or Friday afternoon, and they drove through the night.  Since last week was a crazy week school-wise for me (3 tests, 1 project, 1 8 page paper, and 1 15 page paper), and I had already bought tickets for a banquet on Friday night, I knew that leaving early wouldn’t be possible, and even leaving after the banquet would be pushing it.  So, I decided that the responsible thing would be to stay at Butler, and just enjoy the madness on campus.  So tonight I will be watching the game from Hinkle Fieldhouse with a group of my sorority sisters….and I can’t wait!  Tip off is at 9:23 ET, and you all should be watching it too, unless of course, you read this after the game is over.

Until then…busy yourself by checking out the tweets of ButlerBlue2, Butler Men’s Basketball, this article, this video, and this video

And I will leave you with some photos from Friday’s pep rally on Atherton’s (that’s the student union) steps…

#feartheglasses...if you don't know what this is...search for it on Twitter.

It’s Official…I love to Tweet.

Yes….I said it.  I love Twitter.  For the past few years I have had an account on Twitter, but I would only tweet about two times every month…if that.  I was one of those people who tried it out, didn’t jive with it right at first, and then subsequently gave up on it.  So every time we would discuss it in class and teachers wanted our opinions on if it would stick around or not, I of course said that I didn’t think it would last….simply because Twitter & I didn’t have a good first impression.

Well, over the past few months, I decided to change my ways and actually give Twitter a chance.  Part of this is because with my new smartphone, it is super easy to stay up to date on other people and what they are tweeting, and it is even easier to tweet on my own.  So, I embraced it, and tried to make it as fun as possible….and it worked.  It stole my heart….and now I love to use hashtags so much that I wish that Facebook had them.

Something that has definitely made me love using Twitter lately are the tweets of individuals such as Charlie Sheen, Steven Colbert, and ButlerBlue2 of course.  So if you haven’t really understood why people are obsessed with Twitter….start to look for people or places that you love…because they are all on there….and they are all being active in some way.  With it I just feel so plugged in to the world…and so knowledgeable!  If you haven’t given Twitter a chance yet….give it a try….and a real one at that…not a fake one like I did at first….really try to embrace it.  And….while you are checking it out….why don’t you just go ahead and follow Butler…or the Office of Admissions.  I’m sure you will love it!
