About Me:

My name is Steph, and I am a senior Marketing major with a Communication Studies minor. Since this is my last year at Butler, my main goal is to enjoy every moment that I have left, while doing as much as humanly possible. I am a marketing analyst at the Butler Business Accelerator, a Speakers Lab tutor, and a Butler blogger (obviously). I also am an Alpha Phi, the President of the Butler University Student Foundation, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi (a professional business fraternity), and a member of the Butler American Marketing Association. In the small amount of free time that I do have, I love crafting, watching large amounts of television, and enjoying my favorite comfort foods, like sweet tea.

My Own Butler Crib: Part II

So yesterday I showed you all around the living side of my room…and today you get to see my sleeper, bathroom, and my closet.

First up, the sleeper.  This is one of the most amazing aspects of living in my sorority house, because in our room, when someone wants to go nap, sleep, or study, they can go into the sleeper side and close themselves off from the rest of the world.  In the sleeper we each have a bed (yes, I am 22 years old and I still sleep in a bunk bed) and a dresser, and it is also the holding space for most of our junk.  Another beautiful thing is that since we really only sleep in there, we usually don’t mind if it is messy…because the lights are off in it about 75% of the time.  So please excuse the clothes on the floor, and the unmade beds.  We rarely make our beds because #1 – making a bed on the top bunk is next to impossible, and #2 – they’re in the sleeper, so we only see them when we are sleeping.

The sleeper….

Next is our bathroom…one of the other best parts about living in this part of my house.  We have double sinks, and tons of counter and cabinet space, which is perfect for girls…obviously.

The bathroom…

On the other side of the bathroom we have the other bathroom necessities…a shower/tub and a toilet.  Nuff said.

The other side of the bathroom…

And now, my favorite/least favorite part of the room…my closet.  I don’t like it because it is entirely too small…but I love it because it has all of my clothes in it.  It is jam packed from the rack to the shelf above the rack to the area below where my clothes are hanging, so I guess you can never say that I don’t know how to utilize space well…

My life…my closet.

And that, in a nutshell, is my room.  I have 3 amazing roommates, Lauren, Katie (Carl), and Brooke, who have made this year entirely too much fun.  Even though our room isn’t always clean (or ever), we still love hanging out with each other and making our room obviously the coolest at Alpha Phi.

True Life: I go to college.

I’ve been meaning to share photos of my room on my blog for some time now…but to tell the truth…our room hasn’t been clean when I had time to take the photos.  So, I decided that it would be easiest, and best if I just featured a real life room in a sorority…without hiding our true slightly messy selves.  We are actually really clean people….but it just gets cluttered so easily!

Our room is actually 3 rooms in one….a living side, sleeping side, and a bathroom.  They are all connected…and they make it so much easier to have our own space, or all be doing different things simultaneously.  On our living side there are desks, our TV, our futon, our fridge and food….and everything for studying.

The main part of our living side...

The food station...my desk...and our wall of paddles...

The futon and Lauren and Liz's desks...

On the other side we have our dressers and our beds….and this is where our stuff tends to accumulate.  It is so easy just to throw stuff over there since it is mostly just where we sleep….so we have to be careful about not letting it turn into a pigsty.

One of the other features of our room are our closets….we each get one….and they are rather great.  But, the downside is that two closets are on the sleeper side and two are on the living side….so if you have early classes and someone is still sleeping, you have to be quiet.  Or if you have one on the living side that is right where people tend to walk into the room….which means you can’t let your closet overflow…much.

I left out the bathroom…so I will come back to that another time…if you have any questions about residence life at Butler, feel free to leave a comment!
