Freshman Skits 2011 was last Friday, and even though it was a very long and busy night…it was so worth it.  I am on Exec for Blue Key, the group that puts on Freshman Skits, so I was busy through the entire thing, just making sure groups were on deck and ready to go throughout the night.  If you don’t know what Freshman Skits is…here is a little summary:  Each Greek house’s new member class puts together a skit about Butler that fits the theme.  They all have a story line, songs, and dances, and one of the biggest rules is that they do not mention their individual chapter, or another Greek house.  This year’s theme was “Blue II hits Hollywood”, and just like we hoped, every group interpreted and approached it a little bit differently.  Sometimes Freshman Skits can get a tad bit old as it goes on and on….since there are 14 skits (one for each house on campus)…and each one can last up to 8 minutes.  Yeah….it is a long night.  But since everyone did something different, it was a great night…and oh so entertaining.

But of course, the best part of the entire night for me was getting to see our new members perform…especially since I am one of their New Member Educators.  Since I am a New Member Educator, I have had more contact with them as a whole than most people in the house, so I basically feel like I am their mom, and they are all of my small children.  I tried to not watch them too much as they practiced at the house, so that when it came to the actual night then I would get to see the real thing full out for the first time….and it was perfect.  They were awesome, and I was just so proud of them and all of their hard work.  And…to top it all off….THEY WON!    Which just topped off the entire night rather well of course….so, check out this amazing video of our girls….it shows most of the routine, I think.
