Tune/Turn In Tuesday

So I have definitely been slacking on the blogs, but I PROMISE from here on out things are going to be amazing, because after finals week is over I have 2 months of break time. Well not exactly break time. Once finals are done I will take a little break and then go straight to working 30-40 hours a week at my marketing job before I leave for Australia. Yes, everything has officially been approved and I will be leaving for Australia in February! Get excited!

Since most of my finals has involved more writing and less studying (most of my finals are papers/presentations I only have 1 exam!) I thought I would share with you some of the songs I have been listening to keep me motivated and push through this week of craziness. Hope you guys enjoy and good luck to anyone out there still going through finals week!

#1. Explosions in the Sky – Your Hand In MineThis is the perfect song to listen to over and over if you are writing paper. There are no words so you can really focus on what you are doing. To me this song even without words has a lot of emotion to it, but it really allows me to not sing along. Instead, I listen to this song whenever I have to write a long paper like I did yesterday for my 8-10 page research paper!

#2. Tove Lo – Habits (Hippie Sabotage Remix)
The original to this song is just as good as the remix, but I can’t stop listening to the remix. I love listening to this song because of the beat and the singers voice. For that reason I usually can’t listen to this song while writing, so I  listened to it while working on my design project yesterday.

#3. So High – Ghost Loft
This song has a really chilled out and relaxed vibe to it, which is so helpful for writing papers. There’s no really crazy singing or anything like that just this very cool, airy type of song that can make you feel like you aren’t stuck in a library for 6-8 hours, which is nice.

Sorry guys I’m sticking to only 3 songs this time, because I still have a final due at 12 PM tomorrow and I haven’t made the progress I would like. Also I’m currently at the downtown library trying not to fall asleep… Happy Finals Week everyone!

Silly Freshmen

I have started to learn that it is impossible to do everything, and eventually you need to start narrowing things down. For example, this week is HOMECOMING WEEK! I am not going to lie I am a social butterfly. I love homecoming, because it means everyone is so pumped for everything! Especially at Butler we have so many activities like Yell Like Hell, which is a cheer competition or Lawn Decs, which is where the different teams decorate their lawns with their themes!

This year the theme is I Love the 90’s. It is a lot of fun, but has made me realize that for once I need to make the responsible decision. I say this because I originally planned on doing Yell Like Hell, but did not realize how time consuming it can be. At times it can be 2-3 hour practices. Unfortunately, I have a religions presentation on Tuesday, and have to attend Buddhist temples to complete this project, so I decided that trying to do Yell Like Hell would be too much, but on the bright side I have three more years for all this stuff!

Instead of Yell Like Hell, I am participating in the homecoming parade on Saturday! I am dressing up like a Magic School Bus kid, which is our teams 90’s tv show.

I am so excited! Hopefully the rain stops, until then all the kids on Butler looked sightly cold, wet, and wanting Starbucks. I’ll try and get pictures from the parade on here! Until then HAPPY HOMECOMING :)

Also I just found this random singer on YouTube and I think he is really good! So good for rainy weather right now.

Man, I Love College.

I love COLLEGE. Yes, it does take work, and I am pretty sure I have never studied this much in my life. My parents were not exactly thrilled to hear that statement. I’m so thrilled that I picked Butler. To get everyone up to speed with freshmen life so far, I definitely need to share with you Welcome Week.

Welcome Week is possibly the best week at Butler, then again I’ve only been here for 2 weeks, so that may not be saying much. If there’s anything I remember from Welcome Week it is definitely my SOG’s (Student Orientation Guides), my crazy times spent with my dorm unit, and all the crazy activities planned for freshmen. We had a rave, casino night, the quest, comedian, drive in movies, a hypnotist, a bonfire and Play Fair (such an awesome icebreaker experience). This was a Play Fair at Butler from a couple years ago, but still gives the same experience!

Also about my SOG’s they are pretty awesome. Fellow bloggers Steph, and also Andrew were SOG’s! S.O.G stands for Student Orientation Guide. Usually you get paired up with an upperclassmen whose in your major to help you out for your freshmen year and specifically for Welcome Week. For me being exploratory, I just got two random upperclassmen, but they were awesome! They are hilarious and funny. They helped me out a lot for my first couple days here!

One last thing,  my unit is awesome! My RA, Steph (not the other blogger), is really cool, and plans a lot of stuff for us to get together. We have done a lot of things together, but a fun event was cheering on one of the girl’s on our floor at her soccer game! We all got painted up and went to support her!

Don’t you see now why I love college?
