What Was That?!

Last night I watched the Super Bowl at my friend Bethany’s house with a couple of our friends! Bethany’s mom went out of control on food, I think I still might be in a food coma. Either way though I thought the food was going to be the thing I was most excited about because I really did not care which team won, but that changed quickly after the game started.

First off everyone knows that if you aren’t a fan of football that many people watch the game just for the commercials. I am not one of those people, I love sports, but the commercials are an extra bonus to watching the game. Although this year I did not think the commercials were that great. They kind of sucked. I didn’t really find any of them that funny and the only one I really liked, the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial, made me want to cry.

On top of the commercials if you never watch the Super Bowl this year you were because of Beyonce and the half time show. Beyonce killed it. I’m really not even that big of a Beyonce fan, but her half time show was insane. On top of that Destiny’s Child came back to do a few songs. It only would have been better if Jay-Z came out and did a song, but I won’t complain.

As if the Super Bowl couldn’t have gotten more crazy with the Ravens killing the 49er’s it only got more crazy when there decided to be a power outage at the dome. All I could think about was that this would never happen in Indianapolis, and we should host the Super Bowl again :)

The Black Out!

Besides everything that happened, the game actually turned out to be really good. The 49er’s made an impressive attempt at a comeback, but just barely missed it. It would have been awesome to see, but since I didn’t really mind who won I was just wanting to go home. With the power outage it added an additional 35 minutes to the game. I just can’t wait until next Super Bowl, but until then at least I have March Madness to look forward to now!

Celebration time for the Ravens!

Can You Believe?

It’s April 18th and in only one week I will be officially done with my freshman year of college. Yes I will still have another week of finals, but my classes will be done! It’s crazy to think of all the things I have experienced this year, and since we all know I love doing lists I thought I would do another one.

Here my top 5 best experiences for my freshmen year:

1. Orientation Week
To this day I still remember everything about that week. There’s people you meet that week that will become your best friends, but if not your best friends just a familiar face that you see around campus. Being the crazy social person I am I went to literally every event possible, and I suggest you do the same. Get close to the people in your unit! Don’t be shy! It’s college and while you may be nervous and scared everyone is going through the same thing as you.

One of the first events with my unit!

2. CONCERTS.
I can’t believe all the concerts I was able to go to while being here. I got to see The Fray, Mac Miller, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, and Tyga. As I’ve mentioned it’s amazing to live in the city. No matter where the venue is you are always so close. The only bad thing about being so close means it’s so tempting to go to each and every concert! This Saturday at Butler we are having DEV and many other bands, which is awesome!

3. My Sister’s Wedding
I was so grateful to be apart of my sister’s wedding as a bridesmaid, and see her on a day that she will remember for the rest of her life. My sister was so pretty on her day! I also loved it because I was able to see family that I normally do not get to see. On top of that I got to spend this time with some of my best friends, and people who I love. It can’t get better than that.

4. Recruitment Week
This week was possibly the most exhausting, emotional, and stressful week, but it was also one of the best weeks. After all the craziness and seeing girls cry over houses I can honestly say everything works out. Everyone is happy with the house they are in and I love every single one of my sisters. I hope that everyone at least tries recruitment week. For guys it’s easy, but girls do not be afraid. It’s such a great experience, and plus now I have the best Greek family! Not to confuse with my actual sister in Greek life you get a family too! Below is a picture of my big sis, and my big bro!

5. My First Official Basketball Season As A Bulldog
Although I had watched the bulldogs in previous years this was my first time being able to be the crazy students in the Dawg Pound cheering them on. We may not have had a winning season, but it was so much fun. I will not forget the crazy games, and how intense we would get to the point of losing or voices, or the time my car got broken into and I still managed to attend a game. I cannot wait until the next season comes.

Butler vs Purdue. We won!

6. Super Bowl Week
Ok I know I only said 5 things, but how can I not say Super Bowl week?! That was the most insane week ever. I will admit I skipped some classes just to experience Super Bowl week. The amount of famous people I was able to meet and see was crazy. Shaking hands with Jimmy Fallon, hugging Pat McAfee, seeing Hall of Fame players, and all the events. It was such an eventful week and I hope Indianapolis gets to have it again!

6.5. Blue 3!
I give Trip a half because he’s still a baby. Getting this new mascot doesn’t take away from Blue 2! We take crazy pride in our mascots here. Seeing them around campus is like seeing a celebrity. They are probably two of the most well taken dogs I know. Watch out America, you’ll get to know Trip soon enough just like you met Blue2.

Welcome home Trip!

7. DECLARATION
I finally declared. I thought I would be on the sophomores waiting until last minute to figure everything out! I’m so excited and thrilled for what’s in store for me. I can’t wait to take more and more Strategic Communication classes. Even though I may not be Exploratory anymore I still want to be able to help those you are and the incoming freshman! You may think you’ll never figure it out, but my major was right in front of me the whole time!

Obviously I had many experiences just to keep it down to five! I am can’t wait to see what is in store next year, but no worries this year still isn’t over. All of you can expect a blog about my stressful life right before finals.

Can Every Week Be Super Bowl Week?

As many of you know Super Bowl 46 is being held here in Indianapolis. Having the Super Bowl in Indy is a huge deal. With it being so close to campus there have been a lot of special events lately.

The other day we had Jimmy Fallon come to campus and give a show with some of his writers. It was so much fun! What many of us did not expect was that after the show Jimmy Fallon decided to use Butler campus as part of his commercial for one of his shows! He was here all day on Monday filming for it. I was able to shake his hand! I was so excited. Jimmy Fallon is super nice, and on Thursday and Friday I get to go to his show, so I am definitely excited because I loved watching Jimmy on SNL and now I get to see him live.

Not only did I get to meet Jimmy Fallon on Monday, but then on Tuesday I got to meet Pat McAfee, punter for the Indianapolis Colts. This is where twitter comes in handy. I follow him on twitter and he said that he was hosting an event where he was giving away money and prizes. I just really wanted to meet Pat, so my friend Kelsey and I drove to Glendale Mall where he had the event and met him! He was seriously so nice, and he’s just like a normal guy. He even shot the arrow!

Meeting Pat and Jimmy in the past couple of days has made my week! I’m also so grateful for the location of Butler, and also for the fact that Jimmy and Pat were super nice! They were so down to earth! If you get the change definitely check out everything that Butler, but also downtown has to offer for Super Bowl week!
