Just A Walk Around Pi Phi

Living in a house with 50 some girls can be very interesting. It’s 50 plus personalities, and all types of craziness. I have to admit though that I am typically one of those that is adding to the craziness. None of our rooms have locks, so even if your door is closed you will usually be hearing knocks or if you are like me just busting into rooms with no knocks… I’m sure people love me for this. Two seconds ago I walked into room 00 and two girls were sleeping on the floor… typical.

Two things that have made me laugh while walking around Pi Phi today are sloths and the tinder app. There is a girl in our house named Katie or KTP who finds the most ridiculous YouTube videos. Recently she found a video about baby sloths taking baths. Her and Ellen, another Pi Phi, find this to be the most hilarious thing in the world, and get very loud when watching this video. While I will admit this is pretty cute and funny, it is not everyday you see people laughing about sloths… Here’s the video. Enjoy.

The second thing I discussed that’s been going around the Pi Phi house and campus is the iPhone app, Tinder. The Tinder app is extremely creepy. Basically it’s an app that shows pictures of people in your surrounding area and you decide if you like them or not. If you like them then it’s  a match and you can talk on the app through an instant messenger type of text. You only see your matches and never know if anyone did not like you anything like that. Sometimes it can get creepy, because you see people you know and then it gets awkward. A sister in our house actually met one of her matches last night on a date, so we kind of gave her a hard time, but it is so much fun!

Basically if this blog explains anything it just shows that there is never the same thing in the house ever. There is something always going on or something ridiculous being discussed. Until then the sloth and tinder I guess will be in my mind for the rest of the day!

One last thing! As many of you know I love Butler basketball and you should too! If you do support Butler basketball you should definitely vote for Andrew Smith for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award! Click here to vote for him! You can vote once everyday!!!

Life In Color

Last night my friends and I went to Dayglow or what is now known as Life in Color. It was at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. It’s basically a huge rave where there are many DJ’s that come out and play for you and then people throw paint everywhere.

I was able to go with a lot Pi Phi’s, but while there I saw so many Butler students and later found out that a lot of people that I went to high school were there as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see everyone I wanted to see because there were so many people there! I feel like I pretty much got a workout there. Although it started at 8, my friends and I didn’t get there until about 845, which was perfect because they didn’t start throwing paint until 9. We managed to get really close to the front… I’m pretty good at pushing my way through.

From the back of DayGlow right before leaving!

From 9-12 we stayed there. For 3 hours we basically jumped around and danced the entire time with no break, which is why I say that I got a workout. While this probably sounds all crazy, it is. When I got back from Dayglow my hair looked wet because of how much paint was in it. My face was covered in paint, and my white shirt turned into tie dye, but I’m not mad at all. It was an awesome experience.

My sisters and I at Dayglow midway through! More paint was still on it's way...

One little awesome detail about going to Butler, we are so close to everything. A lot of people at Dayglow came from Purdue, IU, Wabash, and other Indiana colleges. Most of these colleges are anywhere from 45 to 1/1.5 hour away from where Dayglow was held last night. Butler is only 5-10 minutes away from where it was held! So grateful for Butler’s location near the city!

The World Of Rori

I thought I would do a blog about my roommate Rori, since she turned 20 yesterday! Rori may seem like she’s normal when you first meet her, but in reality she is not. Rori just like my other roommate Kristina does a lot of crazy things.

Sneaky Rori!

Two things that Rori does that everyone should know about is her happy dance and podding. Her happy dance is where she gets really excited about something, like food, and then she does this weird happy feet dance. Podding is pretty much where she gets into fetal position and kind of just sits there.

While this may seem weird it’s totally normal for Rori. She also likes to dance a lot which gets people really hyped…. the whole two other people in our room. Just kidding she gets everyone hyped. Basically Rori is a ball full of energy that I love! So glad she has survived 20 years just to spend her 20th with me!

Rori and I!

The Next Ten Weekends

In typical fashion I have already planned ahead for the next ten weekends of my life. To some this may seem ridiculous, but I plan everything in advance because I don’t really like surprises. I’m not really anal about what I do I just like knowing so that when other people ask I can answer them right away!

Not that anyone cares, but here are my next ten weekends:
This weekend: Philanthropy events for Alpha Chi, Phi Psi/Timmy, and Theta. Going to Wabash to see my friend and go to Lambda’s Watermelon Bust!
9/28-9/30: This weekend is our Dad’s Day. Dad’s Day is what the sorority houses do and invite their dads. We usually tailgate and just hang out with all our Pi Phi dad’s!
10/5-10/7: This weekend is Pi Phi’s philanthropy event Arrowspike. We have lip syncs and a volleyball tournament. Also we have Pie a Pi Phi where you can pie us in the face!
10/12-10/14: Fall Break is this weekend! My roommate Rori and I are going to Michigan to go see the Michigan vs Michigan State game!
10/19-10/21: Homecoming Weekend! This year is exciting because our homecoming game is at night!
10/26-10/28: Dayglow, Voodoo, and our new Pi Phi’s get initiated this weekend! It should be a lot of fun!!

11/2-11/4: This is my birthday weekend and also Parent’s weekend at Butler!
11/9-11/11: Pi Phi Formal is this weekend!
11/16-11/18: This is the weekend that kicks off Thanksgiving!
11/23-11/25: Thanksgiving Break!

As you can see I was not joking! I’m sure other things will pop up as the weeks go by! On top of that I still have to do what I’m actually going to Butler for, which is school! So bring on the midterms and papers that will also be popping up along the way. Good thing I have planned every thing out!

Gangnam Style?

This blog has to start with the video of gangnam style or you will not be able to share the same excitement that I have for writing this blog.

I didn’t know anything about gangnam style until I watched the MTV VMA’s and found out about Psy. This Korean pop singer is taking over with his new song. Many have no idea what he is saying and neither do I, but it’s the dance which is the best thing. Lately around campus the dance is being used in lip syncs, which are done for Greek Life philanthropy events where houses do funny dances. Even on the weekends the fraternities are playing it at their houses.

While there are many people who want to hate the song, it’s too catchy. The beat gets everyone pumped up and you can’t help but laugh at everyone doing the dance. Today I watched a video of teenagers reacting to the song and actually learned some more stuff about the song. For example, I had no idea what he was talking about. What is Gangnam style? Gangnam is a district in South Korea. It’s known for high fashion and hipsters. In Gangnam there is a certain type of “swag”. The musician who sings the song, Psy, relates it to Beverly Hills in America.

Learning that it is talking about swag made me even more excited about the song. I told my mom about the song because she is learning Korean right now and has a lot of Korean friends. I thought she would be excited instead she responded to me that she doesn’t understand why it’s such a hit… Thanks mom.

My mom hating on the song. :(

Either way if you hear this song playing around Butler campus from the Pi Phi house it’s definitely me… GANGNAM STYLE.
