Thank goodness, spring seems to finally be here. I say seems because you never know with Indiana, it may change back to the 30’s in two days and I will be back to blogging about snowing. Lets hope not.
When spring and warm weather come back on to campus it gets back to being the place that I have come to love. If you have ever visited Butler then you know about the mall. The mall is a large grassy area that goes directly down the middle of our campus. These past couple of days have been awesome, because students have been coming out to the mall to layout, play sports, hang out with friends, or even take a nap. From a tour guides perspective it’s awesome, because this is exactly what college is all about, but especially Butler.
This is the mall. On Sunday it was completely full with students doing so many different activities!
When the weather gets warmer you really see the awesome things about Butler. You see how even though we are a small campus and seem to know everyone you still see people out on the mall that you have never seen in your life. You get to see how amazing our campus looks. Not to brag, but our campus seriously looks like a movie scene. I know I may be biased, but come on a sunny day at Butler and take a look for yourself and come take a tour with me!
On campus Starbucks is usually a place where lots of people meet up for group projects, to work on any homework they may have, or just to hang out during a break between classes. Unfortunately I can’t do that. For that matter any social area on campus does not work for me to focus on school work.
Inside the Starbucks at Butler
A lot of my friends say I know everyone on campus, which is clearly an over exaggeration, but I do know quite a few people and I am not going to lie every time I see someone I know I always want to say hi. That’s how most of campus is. You usually see someone you know walking to class and if you don’t you almost wonder if anyone is going to class.
Being a small campus and knowing a lot of people, Starbucks never works for me because every time someone walks in the door I feel like I need to see if it is someone I know, which means I am doing this every 2 seconds. Starbucks is not only a place to do all the things I said earlier in the blog, but it’s also a way to get to our dining courts, which means people are going through there all the time.
I guess I should mention it’s not just Starbucks I can’t study in, but on warm days everyone goes out on the mall. I can’t do that either. Basically any place where I could see people that I usually don’t see on a regular basis I cannot study, which is why you will most likely find me stashed away in my sorority dining room or in my room with headphones on.
The mall on campus!
So I guess being social is now becoming a problem…
