Cheers For The Weekend.

This weekend at Butler is suppose to be extremely crazy, and being Greek makes it even more crazy!

Tonight we are having Butlerpalooza, which is an event we had last year as well! It’s a concert with multiple acts. Last year it was a lot of fun and I got to be front row at Dev! So exciting! This year we are having Chiddy Bang and Smash Mouth. I’m sure everyone knows Smash Mouth, but Chiddy Bang is really popular for a lot of college students and they are really good!

Besides Butlerpalooza a lot of Greek houses are having their philanthropy events! Delta Delta Delta is having their carnival for their philanthropy event with St. Jude’s tonight. Phi Delta Theta is having their event for ALS tomorrow, and Lambda Chi Alpha is having their event for North American Food Bank and Gleaners. Even Blue 2 and Trip are getting into the action as you can see below! All the events have lipsyncs, food, and lots of other different competitions. It’s a really easy way to meet a lot of other people and support the other Greek houses on campus!

On top of all these events, there is the Penrod Arts festival that is going on right down the street from Butler at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA). A lot of people say it’s a really awesome festival. I’ve never been but tomorrow I get to volunteer so I’m really excited about that! There is also a 5k tomorrow where people run the 5k and get paint splattered on them as they run. It’s really fun!

In the end this weekend at Butler will be exhausting but it will be the good kind of exhausting. I’m so excited!

Greek Life Bananza

With the end of the year coming up things are getting a little crazy. A lot of Greek events are all happening at once!

Next week there are three different philanthropy events going on. It’s Delta Tau Delta’s Trike week, Tau Kappa Epsilon’s Jumpathon, and Lambda Chi Alpha Teeter Totter event. Philanthropy events are ways the houses make money for whatever philanthropy they support! Anytime there is a philanthropy event on campus it is usually a week long event with serenades, food, and so much fun. My favorite part about a lot of philanthropy weeks are serenades! Serenades are when the fraternity who has their philanthropy event will go to the sororities and sing to the house. Usually the brother prepare songs that relate to the house you are in.

Not only are all these events happening next week and weekend, but there are also so many formals! Formals are for Greek houses. It is basically like a prom or homecoming, but way more laid back. Next weekend it is Phi Delta Theta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Chi Omega, and Sigma Nu formals. I am going to Phi Delta Theta’s formal and it’s in Louisville so I will have to miss some of the philanthropy events, but I guess there is always next year!

Just to add on top of all this next weekend is also Mom’s Day for my sorority Pi Beta Phi and Alpha Phi. The events just keep piling on. You may wonder why I know all these events! I know them all because our Greek life on campus is so involved with each others events and also I have a lot of friends in all the houses! These next few weeks though will be crazy, but at least school is almost over.
