School’s Out For… Autumn?

Back home in Indiana people are officially on their Summer break. However, for me it is Fall in Australia or the Aussies say Autumn. Either way I’m a little jealous of seeing all the pictures of my friends celebrating finals being over. I’m also a little jealous that everyone from study abroad is home except for me. Don’t get me wrong I love Australia, but I miss home a little bit.

With graduation being tomorrow it’s weird to think that a lot of my friends are graduating and will be doing ‘real life’ things, but I’m so proud of each and every one of them. I know they will make us all proud. It’s even more weird to think that in one year that will be me, but I don’t want to talk about that right now!

To say this school year has been a whirlwind would be an understatement. Last Fall was one of my hardest semesters. It was even more difficult knowing that Australia was just months away. After a brutally cold winter and experiencing a completely different side of recruitment for Greek life along came the almost two month wait before Australia. I thought I was going to lose my mind, but it came faster than I thought. Coming to Australia has by far been the best experience in my time at Butler.

I’m enjoying every moment I have here, but I can’t wait to go back to Butler. I can’t wait to see what will happen in my last and final year. Until then I’ll still be blogging while in Australia just so I can keep track of all the shenanigans I have been doing. However, the bloggers just like everyone else takes a break during the summer time so if you don’t see much from them anymore that’s why!

I would just like to thank everyone for such an amazing academic year whether back home or in Australia. It’s truly being an amazing year. To the seniors I already wrote something on my Facebook to you guys, but I’m so proud of all of you! Congrats! Also congrats to our senior blogger, Andre, I will miss your craziness and shenanigans! You are awesome!

Indiana Snow, Australian Beaches

WARNING: If you already hate me for being in Australia then do not read this blog.

Because while it was snowing in Indiana I was laying out on the beach. Right now it’s considered the end of Summer or the beginning of Autumn (not Fall, Aussies do not say Fall) in Australia. However, I wish I could just be at the beach all day everyday. The worse part is that I really can’t share my excitement of gorgeous weather with anyone back in Indiana. This is due to the fact that the other day I checked the weather back home and it was snowing… again.

Picture perfect at Manly Beach

At this point I’m starting to think when I return in July it will still be snowing. However, for those of you in Indiana I’m turning into one of them. One of the Australians that thinks 70 is cold and 90 is perfect. Yes, I will admit today when walking to class I thought it was chilly. I could only imagine how all my friends at Butler would be punching me right now for saying that, so I take it back. It has been rainy lately so no beach for me. Just all around sad times here in paradise.

This past weekend we went to Bondi Beach which was gorgeous. So far I’ve only been to Bondi and Manly, but I just read a fun fact that if I wanted to see every beach in Australia it would take me 27 years… so I’m just going to try to see as many as possible. I’m going to stop talking about beaches now before I get angry messages about this blog. Right now everything is going great! My roommate and I are planning our “Fall/Easter Break”. We plan on going to Melbourne and Cairns, which is where the Great Barrier Reef is! Can’t wait to experience more of Australia!

Welcome Back Fall.

In true Indiana fashion, the weather changed and super fast. Why does everyone wonder why we all get sick? Probably because Indiana likes to freak out and change weather all the time, but I can’t complain. Fall is my favorite season, and for all you Summer lovers out there let me explain why Fall is so awesome.

1. Sweatshirts/Uggs
Who doesn’t love sweatshirts?! They are so comfy and soft. You don’t have to worry about what you are wearing under them because you most likely won’t take it off, but if you do get too hot then you can always take it off! I especially love my Phillies sweatshirt, thanks to my friend Hank I started getting interested in the Phillies and now I am debating whether to buy another sweatshirt. Buying a new sweatshirt might be a problem because I am really thinking about buying new Uggs. You may think Uggs are ugly, but they are so comfy. They can go with anything and feel so soft and warm. Don’t judge the uggs by the outside it’s what inside that matters :)

I love this sweatshirt!

2. Apple Cider/Chai = Chaider or any Fall drink Starbucks offers.
My friend, Natasha, has seriously got me hooked on Chaider, I don’t even know if that’s how you spell it correctly, but it is Apple Cider and Chai Tea mixed together! It’s so good! Not only that but since Fall is back that means Pumpkin Spice Lattes are here. Nothing is better than having a warm drink in cold weather. Plus who doesn’t love Apple Cider?! So awesome.

3. Football
I am a huge fan of football. Being that I am from Indianapolis, I love the Colts. I can’t wait until September 11th when the season starts. I’ve been a little worried with the whole Peyton situation, but nonetheless I am still pumped. Football in the fall is great. Tailgating and eating good off the grill food is so yummy. Plus when you go to games at Lucas Oil or any stadium for that matter there’s no better football experience than that.

4. Leaves Changing!
Here in Indiana we are known for our leaves having this crazy change in color. I can’t wait until leaves begin to change here at Butler. I heard it is so pretty through the Monon trail and just through out campus since we have so many trees! For any students though and anyone visiting Indiana, Brown County is a must. For the past couple years I have been going camping with my friends Lindsey and Sara to Happy Hollows in Brown County with their families. It’s so pretty there and I’m so mad we can’t do it this year because they go to Purdue and being that we both have the same homecoming as the high schooler’s Fall Break, we can’t go! :( I am going to miss it, so hopefully we get to go some other time!

Last year at Brown County! So Pretty!

5. Bonfires
They keep you warm, and you can make awesome food with bonfires. For example, Smores. Who doesn’t love smores?! They can be messy but the gooey awesomeness of smores is the best part. Until Fall is here I have to suffice with microwave smores or the smores cupcake from The Flying Cupcake. The cupcake is awesome, but I still want the actual thing! Plus with bonfires I love that smell! Right now is perfect bonfire weather.

Sorry about my Fall rant, I am just a little too excited.
