Livin’ In A Land Down Unda

The past couple of days I have been settling into my surroundings. It has been a challenge to get used to looking the correct way when crossing the street as well as figuring out that buying a ton of groceries at once probably isn’t ideal when you have to walk back to your apartment. However, it is gorgeous!

Yesterday we had orientation at our uni (Aussies shorten university to uni). I never realized how large Macquarie was until yesterday. This will be quite the experience because not only have I never been to Australia I have never attended a large school. At Butler I’m used to class sizes of 15-20. Here I could possibly experience lectures of up to 400 people, so that will be interesting.

After orientation we had a hippie or hipster themed party on a boat on the Sydney Harbour! It was so cool. Being able to see the opera house and the Sydney Harbour bridge at night was amazing. I also was able to learn a lot from some Aussies about places to go and things to do so that was really nice.

On the cruise by the Opera House!

So far the only thing I have to complain about Australia is how expensive it is, but other than that it’s so pretty and the people are so nice. I have yet to try Vegemite but that also might be something I complain about.

Creative PowerPoints Recieve Big Rewards.

It’s that time of the year when many college students and even high school students can only thing about one thing. Spring Break. Whether you are headed to Florida, Cali, maybe even Texas everyone is counting down the days until the sun is shining and everyone is super tan.

Typically I don’t go on Spring Break, I usually just stay at home and work, but this year an opportunity came up that I couldn’t help but ask my parents. Due to my lack of being able to ask my parents in a normal way I made a PowerPoint. You can ask my dad this PowerPoint was very formal even at the end saying thank you for your time and consideration.

I didn’t really think the PowerPoint was going to work considering I was asking to go to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, but low and behold the Spring Break Gods looked down upon me and blessed me because my parents are letting me go! I get to go on a 5 day cruise to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands! I’m so excited.

The moral of this story is that PowerPoint presentations can actually really work so maybe everyone should just ask in PowerPoint. My dad’s response to this: ” I hope you are spending this much time on your school work as you are on your PowerPoints.” No worries Dad!
