About Me:

Hi I'm Katie, I am a sophomore at Butler! I am a Strategic Communications major with a focus in Public Relations. I love being involved in campus and hold positions in College Mentors for Kids and Dawg Pound. I am also a Butler Student Ambassador, Morton Finney Scholar, and a Recruitment Counselor. In my spare time, I am usually hanging out with friends, making up new phrases, or tweeting.

Here We Go Again

It’s that time of year again to sign up for positions in organizations and clubs. I think this time I am going a little more crazy, but I’m excited for whatever opportunities I receive! Here’s the full list of positions I’m considering!

VP or President of College Mentors for Kids
Currently I am Director of Recruitment for College Mentors for Kids. I really love this organization because it takes kids from inner city schools or areas that aren’t the best and provides them with the opportunity to visit a college campus once a week and see that they can achieve anything they set out to do. I have this interview on Monday. It’s 45 minutes long, so I’m slightly nervous!

Recruitment Counselor
A Recruitment Counselor is someone in a sorority who has already been through both sides of recruitment (going through as a potential new member, as well as going through as an active member) who decides that they would like to be a leader for the freshmen who go through next recruitment round. Doing this means that you must disassociate yourself from your house. Basically no one can know that you are whatever sorority you are. I really want to do this because I think it will be so much fun as well as I want the freshmen to experience the best time I had through recruitment, because it can be extremely stressful. I have this interview on Monday as well!

PR/Marketing, Dawg Pound
I’m currently on Dawg Pound as a member of Street Team, but I want to have a higher position. This is based on a majority vote by those in Dawg Pound, so we’ll see what happens. Although I am thinking about applying for a Sports Marketing internship at Hinkle so I’m not exactly sure if I will go through with Dawg Pound. It all depends. Either way I plan to be all over Butler athletics next year!

It’s insane to think that next year is my junior year and that I will be advancing further into the organizations that I have been in since freshmen year. I can’t wait to see what happens!

P.S. IT’S MARCH WHICH MEANS MARCH MADNESS. GET EXCITED! :)

New Positions

This probably does not come as a shocker to anyone that knows me, but I love to be involved. Some times this is a problem because I get involved with too much, and then don’t have time to do anything else. For once though I think I am in just enough to be able to juggle all the things that go on in my life!

Originally I was planning to apply for 5 different positions in clubs/organizations, but soon realized how crazy that is. Instead I cut it down and so now that I know what I finally am I can tell all of you, so that next year you can join these amazing organizations! Here’s what I will be doing next year so far, and what positions I have!

College Mentors For Kids
- Director of Recruitment
Basically my job is to recruit new people to join CMFK. It’s a really great organization that takes inner city kids and gives them college mentors to let them see how college is and get them to start thinking about different degrees. You help to really inspire them to accomplish their goals when it comes to secondary education!

Dawg Pound
- Street Team
Dawg Pound is our student fan section. My job as being on street team is to promote the games as much as possible, scan ids at games, and basically be just as pumped or even more pumped than everyone else. Funny story I didn’t find out I was on Street team until two nights ago when a Pi Phi senior willed her street team shirt down to me. I didn’t get to hear I was on street team at the dawg pound party because I had to go to a lecture!

and obviously the best job ever

Yes, I got asked to be a blogger again next year. I hope I can still entertain each and every one of you with my craziness, stressed out, exciting, and fun year that I hope to have next year. I hope that many were able to see that being undeclared is not that bad at all, and actually I’m not behind at all either now that I am declared!

So next year when you come to Block Party, which is where all the clubs come out and display what their clubs are about, JOIN!
