I am not in denial. I realize that Brad left in the middle of summer and went to the Celtics. However there is one piece of Brad that was still left behind in my possession. That one piece of Brad would be a giant size cardboard version of his head.
If you watched Butler on College Gameday when we had the amazing game versus Gonzaga then you probably saw the giant size cut outs of people like Brad Stevens, Gordon Hayward, Matt Howard, Blue 2, and so on. I was lucky to get a cut out of Brad Stevens. However, it is ridiculously large so finding a place to keep it has been difficult. This is why many times I end up putting Brad in a window. Some people love looking up and seeing Brad staring down at them. While others are freaked out by it. Either way I’ve enjoyed the time with my Brad Stevens cut out.
part of the Brad Stevens cutout and I on ESPN.
This past semester I lived in apartment village, which are apartments on Butler’s campus. In our window that looked out over the Butler bowl I decided to place my Brad Stevens cut out just to freak some people out, and also so Brad could continue to look over Hinkle.
A couple weeks ago we got a lot of snow! After a couple days of snow people started to throw snowballs at Brad, so my roommates and I thought why not put a sign in our window with “Can You Hit Brad?” While we thought this was an amazing idea it scared us most of the time because we never knew when someone would start throwing snowballs at our window. Nonetheless it provided my roommates and I with some entertainment as well as Butler students, visitors for basketball games, and whoever else decided to join our fun.
It was good while it lasted, and unfortunately I can’t take Brad to Australia. So goodbye Brad, who knows when he’ll pop up next!
So fortunate to see Brad coaching the Celtics while playing against the Pacers!
Admission packets went out last Friday, and this year admissions meant a little more to me. Working in the office of admission I got to help pack and stuff all the packets that were sent out! I can only hope that the excitement I experienced when finding out I got into Butler is the same excitement you experienced!
While the decision process isn’t always easy, and some of you will be debating between 2 or more schools I sincerely hope you consider Butler. Personally I couldn’t see myself anywhere but Butler. These past 2 1/2 years at Butler have showed me that I really did pick the best school for me. That’s what really matters. Don’t go where all your friends are going just because they are going there. Don’t go where everyone thinks will be the best fit for you. Follow your gut, and hopefully it will lead you to Butler
In the next few weeks I will start to share more about the things I love about Butler. If you care to look at some of my past posts such as: Things I Take For Granted: Butler Edition or The Top Three Reasons you will start to get an idea of the reasons a lot of people love Butler. If you have any questions about Butler please feel free to comment! I will try and respond to each and every one of you. Happy holidays everyone!
So this week is the week where for other schools it’s a time to prep for finals, but here at Butler it’s just another week to remind yourself that you don’t go to an easy school. It’s only Monday, and because of how much stuff I have due I already think that tomorrow is Wednesday. Yes, it’s that bad.
I know I tend to do this a lot. I mean I like to list things a lot, which is to show you that I’m crazy, but then also to remind myself the things I need to do this week. Today I’ve already completed my Spanish oral exam as well as work on my personal branding project, but if you don’t mind I would like to list again! Here goes nothing
12/10: Research Methods group assignment due , Group presentation for Indiana State Library
12/11: Women and Rock research paper due by 5 PM
12/12: Firebelly Marketing (my other job)
12/13: Spanish quiz
I realize this may not seem crazy, but then just wait until next week.
12/16: Graphic Design presentation (FINAL) self branding/ save the arts project
12/17: Research proposal paper due
12/18: Women and Rock FINAL due
12/19: Research Methods Test 2
It doesn’t seem a lot, it’s just that all of these take a lot of research/time, so I’ll be hiding out for a little bit. On top of all this I’m still trying to figure out Australia shenanigans out, because my counter part in Australia is taking forever to get back with me. Wish me luck everyone!
Where I will be soon!
Recruitment is just around the corner for the women and men of Butler. Yes, I realize this post is a little early, but for me I can’t wait for recruitment! Greek life is just one of the ways that you can broaden your horizons in college. Fortunately for Butler students you get an entire semester to see if it is something you are really interested in.
At Butler we wait until the second semester to go through recruitment, which is so nice. Waiting until second semester gives you the time to see if Greek life is something you are really interested in. You get to have meals at the houses and do house tours as well to get a glimpse of each sorority or fraternity. Not only that it gives you the chance to make your friends outside of Greek life before you start recruitment, which is really nice!
This year I am a recruitment counselor or at some schools they are called Rho Gammas. I am so excited to be able to help these girls who will be in the same position as myself just two years ago.
However, I do have a couple of things to say before recruitment! Try not to get stressed out. Some girls get stressed out by everything going on with recruitment, but remember recruitment is meant to be fun! Going in with an open mind is the best thing you can do. I know this can be difficult with the stereotypes you might be hearing or if someone told you something from years back, however keeping an open mind will allow you to make the best decision for you. Recruitment and your house doesn’t make or break you, but it does give you an experience you’ll always remember.
