Why I Can’t Study At StarBucks

On campus Starbucks is usually a place where lots of people meet up for group projects, to work on any homework they may have, or just to hang out during a break between classes. Unfortunately I can’t do that. For that matter any social area on campus does not work for me to focus on school work.

A lot of my friends say I know everyone on campus, which is clearly an over exaggeration, but I do know quite a few people and I am not going to lie every time I see someone I know I always want to say hi. That’s how most of campus is. You usually see someone you know walking to class and if you don’t you almost wonder if anyone is going to class.

Being a small campus and knowing a lot of people, Starbucks never works for me because every time someone walks in the door I feel like I need to see if it is someone I know, which means I am doing this every 2 seconds. Starbucks is not only a place to do all the things I said earlier in the blog, but it’s also a way to get to our dining courts, which means people are going through there all the time.

I guess I should mention it’s not just Starbucks I can’t study in, but on warm days everyone goes out on the mall. I can’t do that either. Basically any place where I could see people that I usually don’t see on a regular basis I cannot study, which is why you will most likely find me stashed away in my sorority dining room or in my room with headphones on.

The mall on campus!

So I guess being social is now becoming a problem…

I could never study at Starbucks. Too much noise and people watching to do. I guess it depends on what kind of person you are. Do you need absolute quiet to study or can you take some distraction. Personally, I am way too social and will talk to just about anyone to avoid studying. Plus, get me hopped up on coffee and it is over. Time to get back to the grind (www.texvisions.com). Why can’t work be at Starbucks?
