At Butler formal recruitment does not start until Spring semester, but the sororities do a lot of little things before recruitment begins.
One of those things happened yesterday. We gave house tours to all the freshmen interested in recruitment. At Pi Phi we had 235 girls come through, which is a ton! Being a smaller school we are not used to having a large number of girls go through recruitment, but currently there are over 500 girls that are signed up saying that they are interested in formal recruitment. For us this is huge!
Having this many girls is fun, but can be exhausting. Yesterday during our house tours we had it set up where girls go to see our house, but also go into rooms and talk to members about different things we do. My room was about campus involvement, which my roommates made fun of me for because they think I am involved in everything. I basically talked about my blogging, Dawg Pound, College Mentors For Kids, and how my sisters support me in all these different activities. It gets repetitive really fast, but it’s nice for the potential new members to be able to get to know our house a little bit.
Although this was our first house tour there are so many more things we have left to do. Now that the first house tour is done, we can have the girls over for meals. We have to get 500 girls through our house for meals, which is insane. We also still have house tours left when it’s parent’s weekend so that families can see our houses. So even though recruitment is not until next semester, the craziness has already began.
Random, but here’s a song that I can’t get out of my head lately!
