A Couple Tips For The Class of 2016

I’m sure many of you are excited to get to campus. I even have a countdown for when I can move into Pi Phi so I totally understand, but before you get to campus make sure you check a couple of things!

My countdown for Butler. All of Greek life moves in the same day as you do!

Be sure to use the check list that Butler provides you. It may seem like a lot of stuff you don’t need, but a lot of it will come in handy! If you have no idea what I’m talking about or don’t know how to find it here’s a link to it. Packing List! Indiana has crazy weather so you may want to consider bringing a sweatshirt or two just in case we go from 80′s one week to 50′s another! #1 item to bring: a fan. Unless they put in air conditioning over the summer in Schwitzer and Ross that I don’t know about, you will definitely want a fan. Like I said Indiana has crazy weather and last year during move in it was in the 90′s!

Talk to your parents before coming about spending money. My parents transfer money into my account every month for my spending. Do you plan on having a job, or are your parents going to set aside money for you every week or month? Because I am from the Indianapolis area I already had an account with Chase, but I know a lot of people that got an account with Chase bank because the ATM’s on campus are Chase ATM’s. I think there is one other ATM that is not Chase, but I don’t recall what bank that is! Be sure to see what your bank or if your bank charges a few for using a different ATM. You don’t want to be out on a Saturday night realizing you have no money in your account! Also bring quarters with you unless you just plan on not doing laundry!

Tell your parents not to worry that you are on the third floor of Ross or Schwitzer and need to carry everything up three flights of stairs. On move in day there will be plenty of Butler students that are willing to help you carry things upstairs, even if it’s your large flat screen tv or your fridge.

We are all excited for the incoming class and can’t wait to see you on move in day! Here’s a video for you to see what to expect on your move in day!
