College freshmen would always come back for Homecoming at my school or randomly during my senior year, and I never really believed anything they told me. They always said how much studying is involved and how getting distracted is so much easier. I do not know why I did not believe them because now I understand and it’s only been 2 or 3 weeks in school.
First of all, there is so much READING. I think majority of my time is spent reading for a class. It is never short reading either. I read anywhere from 20 to 40 pages for each class. The different thing about college though is that since you have such a variety of classes to pick from most of your reading is enjoyable. I do not mind reading any of the books I have to read, because they all pertain to something I am interested in!
The people that came to my high school were also right about getting easily distracted. I am rather social. Never mind who am I kidding I am EXTREMELY social. I love meeting new people and talking to others. Sometimes it can be difficult to stay focused. People may come in and out of your room, fraternities and sororities might doing an event, which by the way I have a frat and sorority right outside my window and currently they are bouncing on trampolines to blaring music. It is all fun and awesome, but I have realized that studying in my room is not always the best idea! Instead, I usually study in the basement of Schwitzer, a classroom in Jordan Hall or Galluhue, or the library. I get so much more work done in those places than my room!
Last but not least I never really took into consideration how awesome all the older kids said college was. There is no way of describing how awesome college is you just have to go! Seriously, I am only in my 2nd or 3rd week of school and I am already saying this. Just wait in a couple weeks I am sure that things can only get better.
I decided that at the end of every post now I will share something with you that I am really excited about. Right now I am really excited about next Friday! The Fray is coming to Clowes and I get to go! To get everyone excited here’s The Fray!
