What’s Going on at Butler This Week?

Being located in the 12th largest city in the nation means that there is always something happening on and around campus. This week is Homecoming, which is one of the biggest events of the year. It’s filled with fun traditions such as:

See what else is going on around campus by visiting the Butler Connection.

There is also quite a bit happening in downtown Indianapolis (a.k.a. Indy). Here are just a few things going on this weekend in Indy:

  • Sports: The Indiana Fever is playing in the WNBA Finals on Thursday and the Colts vs. Browns game is on Sunday.
  • Shows: From theatre to comedy, there are so many shows to see.
  • Festivals: Downtown Indy hosted German Fest last week and this week is the Heartland Film Festival!
  • Music: You can find free music at Clowes Hall on Butler’s campus, at the clubs in Broad Ripple and at the White River State Park.

Weighing the Options – Part 2

Earlier in the week, we shared part 1 of our blog with you. It was a list of the ‘factors’ that are most important to you with each school you are considering applying to or visiting in the near future. As the months pass and you etch closer and closer to graduation, this list can help you make that final decision once and for all. Below you will find a continuation of our list of common college or university attributes that are good things to consider when looking at different schools.

Campus Life

Academics are most important, but the college experience is more than that. What do you like to do for fun? At Butler, we offer:

Over 140 clubs and organizations

Campus and Community Service Opportunities

Concerts, Productions and Speaker Series at Clowes Hall

19 NCAA Division 1 sports

Club and Intermural sports

Campus Housing

Make sure that when you visit a campus, you get to see where you will be living your first year. All Butler, all freshmen live in one of two main residence halls. Sophomores, juniors and seniors have additional options including Campus Apartments, a suite style residence hall and Greek Housing. Seniors also have the added option of living off-campus.

School Spirit

School spirit is more than just supporting your athletic programs or wearing apparel with your school’s name or logo. It’s the pride you have in your institution and your enthusiasm to support your school, friends and community. At Butler, our students have Bulldog Spirit.

Career and Graduate School Preparation

Skipping ahead 4 years…It’s your college graduation day. What’s your next step? It is it a job? Pursuing a graduate degree? You don’t need to know the answers to these questions right now, but it is important to know what a school offers to help you plan for life after college. In addition to the individual academic advising you will receive from you’re a faculty member at Butler, you also have the opportunity to work with the Internship and Career Services office. Whether you are trying to gain experience by completing internships or starting to apply for jobs during your senior year, this office will be a great resource in helping prepare you for your future.
