If you think Butler University might be the right place for you, consider applying early. Our early action deadline on November 1 allows you to apply early and get your admission decision mailed on December 15. Early action plans are similar to early decision plans, but are not binding. If you’ve been accepted, you can choose to commit immediately, or wait until the spring. (Please note: Our Early Action program applies only to freshman applicants applying for the fall term. Students applying to the School of Art & Design and the School of Music, Theatre & Dance are exempt from the Early Action decision date, as admissions decisions are released after portfolio review or auditions are complete.)
We will begin reviewing completed applications in late September and we will begin releasing decisions in December. All applications are reviewed using the same guidelines – we will not be awarding priority in the review of an application simply because it was submitted for Early Action. While there is no advantage in the review process for completing an application before November 1st, we continue to urge students to submit application materials early for the benefit of receiving a decision quickly.
A completed application consists of:
- Your personal statement/essay
- A résumé of your accomplishments and activities
- Official SAT and/or ACT scores with a writing score (Butler University codes: SAT: 1073; ACT: 1180)
- Your official high school transcript
- A Secondary School Report completed by your guidance counselor
