Visiting colleges is something in which every high school student should do. Whether you are a junior or a senior, it is imperative to visit the schools in which you are applying to. After all, it can make all the difference in the world when you’re deciding whether or not a particular college is a good fit for you.
If you’re starting to plan a few college visits, we have some helpful tips before you head out. Always remember, it is important to schedule your visit before arriving on campus so that you can make the most out of your trip.
Things to do:
• Arrive on-campus and walk around to learn layout of campus
• Take the campus guided tour
• Attend an information session
• Have lunch in the dining hall
• Interview with admission officer
• Interview with professor or attend a class (if possible)
• Walk around campus to investigate unseen areas and to talk with students
• Drive through areas surrounding campus, check out stores and restaurants
• When visiting Butler, make sure that you get to spend sometime in Broad Ripple and downtown Indianapolis
• Meet with Financial Aid
• Talk with students

• Your major’s department building
• Computer labs
• Large lecture halls
• Residence halls (Schwitzer, Ross and ResCo)
• Dining halls
• Library
• Diversity Center
• Atherton Union
• The bookstore
• The mall (the main quad)
• HRC (Health and Recreation Complex)
What to look out for:
• Scan bulletin boards to see what day-to-day student life is like
• Go to the career center and learn what services it offers
