I had one specific request, and it was to go on the USS Intrepid. I mean when a WWII-era aircraft carrier is docked in the city you’re visiting, you go and see it.
I was elected captain, first of all.
Okay not really, but that was the door leading up to the bridge. SO COOL, RIGHT?
We learned all about how jets actually land on a strip that’s not even the length of the ship. See, the jet has a little hook on it that needs to catch on a really strong cord, which is attached to a hydraulic system that braces the force of a freakin’ jet colliding with the deck.
Coolest museum ever.
This is me and a Black Bird jet.
Captain Cathryn out. Sort of. I’ll be back for Part 3.
It’s almost midnight, so I’m not counting Tuesday as a day anymore. 3 more days until spring break!!
Our clusters are scheduled Wednesday-Friday, which isn’t great at the moment, but it’s so, so much better than having them after spring break. Nothing boggles fun plans more than having a bunch of tests to study for!
I have a presentation in my STS class too. We’re going to look at the benefits of stay at home dads and the socially constructed obstacles to their success. Gender roles are a go!
Things are busy, but I think it’s manageable. I’m just really tired because I’ve been, sadly, lacking sleep. But that’s what break is for–recovery! I’m not going anywhere except maybe a quick trip to Cincinnati. It’ll be nice to relaaax. I need to finish The Hunger Games, anyway!
