For those of you who haven’t heard of it, Butler has a Visiting Writer Series every semester. My freshman year, I took an English course called Contemporary Writers and our professor expertly had us read work by writers who were coming for the series, so I felt really on top of it when we went to the readings and I knew what was going on. Plus the writers felt so much more famous since I owned their books!
Well, ever since then, I’ve kept glancing at the lists and never ever recognizing the writers (probably because Tim O’Brien already came and all my favorite writers are people like Karen Traviss and Charles Dickens), and today I finally stopped when I saw who was on the poster. Margaret Atwood! I actually own one of her books and I am so freakin’ pumped that she is coming next week! Admittedly I haven’t finished The Handmaiden’s Tale but if I can find some time to get a few chapters in this weekend, I will.
Here’s a reading Galway did at another place. He’s just so charming!
