About Me:

Hey everyone, I am Cathryn. I am going into my 5th year of pharmacy at Butler University. I am also working toward a minor in Science, Technology & Society! In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and writing. I've been working on NaNoWriMo and am hoping to be published at some point in the near future as well. Most of the time you can catch me studying in the library or browsing the Internet. Oh, and did I mention that I got married last summer?

NYC Part 3!

Okay confession I’m not a huge Broadway show person. But when going to New York you kind of have to go. WELL it ended up that we didn’t get tickets for anything on Broadway (HA!) and we did get to go to Upright Citizens Brigade.

And one of the Sonic commercial guys was part of the performance!

We also ate cannolis from the new Cake Boss restaurant in Times Square.

I have to stop for a moment and mention there is a third one of us on this excursion. It’s Ashley. She is not in these pictures because I took all of the ones I’m posting from her Facebook which were pictures that she uploaded from her phone. And yes I broke my vow of Facebook deactivation to log onto Facebook for like ten minutes to get some New York pictures BUT I DID IT FOR YOU GUYS.

I’ll post more pictures as we go, promise. I’ll sneak one in after a week or so and be like “REMEMBER NEW YORK?”

Anyway we also did the Harry Potter Experience. I was Sorted into Ravenclaw. Why? Glasses, probably. I should have stood up in kinetics on Monday as we were told the bad news about our exams and been like “BUT I WAS SORTED. INTO RAVENCLAW.” It would have gone over really well.

BUT YES! New York was so much fun! We got to hang out with our sophomore year roommate Darcie who’s also in the city! And I rode a zillion trains and saw rats. Mostly alive ones. I saw one dead one. Oh and doggies. Lots of dogs in sweaters.

We ate pizza and a hot dog from a hot dog stand. Let me just point out again that half of my city experience just reminded me of stuff I’d do in Grand Theft Auto (you have to go around looking for hot dog stands when you’re low on health).

OH WE ALSO saw Jimmy Fallon’s monologue rehearsal last Tuesday. He is such a doll!

I definitely have to go back because there is just so much more to see. We visited the 9/11 Memorial, which was so powerful. But I need to go back when all the museums and other parts are open.

And that’s the end!

NYC: Part 2! I captain a ship!

I had one specific request, and it was to go on the USS Intrepid. I mean when a WWII-era aircraft carrier is docked in the city you’re visiting, you go and see it.

I was elected captain, first of all.

Okay not really, but that was the door leading up to the bridge. SO COOL, RIGHT?

We learned all about how jets actually land on a strip that’s not even the length of the ship. See, the jet has a little hook on it that needs to catch on a really strong cord, which is attached to a hydraulic system that braces the force of a freakin’ jet colliding with the deck.

Coolest museum ever.

This is me and a Black Bird jet.

Captain Cathryn out. Sort of. I’ll be back for Part 3.

NYC: Part 1!

A lot has happened since I last updated!

I finished clusters and in a whirlwind of activity, I flew off to New York City.

Even though I’d just come off a week of studying, one of our first stops in the city was the New York City public library. Apparently people actually use it as a study space and to get books and don’t just come in to gawk at the ceiling and the fact that it’s a historic building. Who’d have thought?

We did a lot in the first 24 hours in New York! I had my first big city taxi ride, which was a lot like a real life Grand Theft Auto ride and that game from a long time ago called Crazy Taxi. The guy just had no regard for lane markers.

The weather was awesome! It was fairly warm and it only rained on us once! But guess what I’m going to talk about it MORE in the next part!
