About Me:

Hey everyone, I am Cathryn. I am going into my 5th year of pharmacy at Butler University. I am also working toward a minor in Science, Technology & Society! In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and writing. I've been working on NaNoWriMo and am hoping to be published at some point in the near future as well. Most of the time you can catch me studying in the library or browsing the Internet. Oh, and did I mention that I got married last summer?

Music Monday on Tuesday

I’m getting on the Music Monday Boat (sorry it’s late!).

I made a playlist on Spotify called Juice Party and that’s been my jam (title is in reference to Buster Bluth from Arrested Development, extra points if you know what I’m talking about). Highlights being: Salt-N-Pepa, Gorillaz, Ke$ha, Beastie Boys, and most importantly, new singles off of Justin Timblerlake’s 20/20.

To be truthful I’ve  been kind of meh about the entire 20/20 album but I do really like the singles off of it, especially Mirrors.

The SNL performance was GRAND too.

And if Juice Party isn’t your thing, I have POWERRR (in reference to Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson. I don’t know where I get these, seriously.) This playlist is actually pretty chill. I’ve got mostly new indie rock and some old classics like James Taylor, Jim Croce, and Jackson Browne. I’m in love with this song by Two Door Cinema Club called Sleep Alone.

OKAY AND THIS IS JUST WEIRD.

If you look at the comments, apparently FIFA 13 used this song for their new game? And there was another song I fell in love with that also used this song. Atlas Genius – If So (I actually prefer the acoustic version).

That’s all from my music archives this week!

I am a musical PROPHET!

Remember when I asked for a new Ke$ha album?

IT’S HAPPENING.

I’m fairly certain Ke$ha doesn’t take herself seriously. At least, not as seriously as Rihanna? That’s all I can ask for.

I really can’t emphasize enough how much I despise turning on the radio anymore. I listen to X-103 and WTTS exclusively now if my iPod is otherwise incapacitated. But every time I turn on a pop station it’s: cruddy Pink, cruddy Adam Levine (WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU, ADAM?), Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Fun. (sorry, I just–can’t), sometimes if I’m lucky it’s Cher Lloyd or blast-from-the-past Domino by Jessie Jay, but otherwise… NOISE.

NOISE, I TELL YOU.

I usually go through phases where the new pop music isn’t doing it for me, but within a few months a few new songs will come out and I’m right back on the pop bandwagon. I mean, my heart and soul is always with rock (see: why I listen to X-103 and WTTS), but I can get into some silly pop music. Nowadays, though, I’ve been waiting and waiting for something good to come out and it’s just the same people coming out with the same-sounding soulless singles.

Argh, you know what? Cleanse your palate.

New Music Month

The next month is just FILLED with all my favorite bands coming out with new albums!

Tuesday, The Killers came out with Battle Born! I knew their new album was due out before the end of the year, but I had nooo idea it was coming out so soon. I heard on the radio on Monday that it was coming out the following day and I was like AWWW YEAH (in the Kool Aid Man voice). I got it right away because I’m desperate for music to listen to while studying, and it’s awesome.

The single off of it is called Runaways. There’s something reminiscent to Sam’s Town about this album, but it definitely stands alone with its own sound. (Sam’s Town is still my favorite of theirs, I think.)

The Avett Brothers and Mumford and Sons have their new albums this month too! It’s just TOO MUCH. Definitely been a good year for albums for my favorite bands. Springsteen, Avett Brothers, The Killers, gawsh. All I need is Ke$ha and I would have a complete set of my favorite things.

What? I freakin’ love Ke$ha!
