My roommate, Ashley, celebrated her birthday last weekend. In typical “us” fashion, we devised an evil plan to make her birthday celebration long and drawn-out, with goofy voices and costumes. It’s a tradition of ours.

I now present you with Ashley’s Pirate Birthday.

To really catch the essence of pirates and make someone feel special for their birthday, send them a Black Spot. We used it to tell Ashley to show up at the Bell Tower alone where an evil pirate may or may not challenge her to a duel.

Next, there better be a treasure map involved in the pirate shenanigans, otherwise you’re just kidding yourself if you think you’re doing a pirate theme. The map piece is hard to find, but it’s down in the right corner there. We sent Ashley all over campus to find the map pieces!

Every treasure hunt should end in a group shot.

As a reward for finding the map pieces, we took Ashley to Buca di Beppo downtown. We documented the treasure map there!

All in all, it was good day. We think Ashley had fun–after she found out the Black Spot wasn’t a death sentence.
