The Perks of Being Butler VIP

With spring break drawing nearer, I wondered what the attendance would be for the Xavier game. My parents had not been to a Butler men’s basketball game this season, so I looked into getting them tickets for the last home game. Unfortunately, all of the home tickets were sold out about two months ago.

The previous week, I had heard that the students section still had unclaimed tickets (as a student, we can attend all home games for free). My business major mind made me think of the opportunity costs Butler would take if the remaining tickets were not sold. We’re not a top Midwestern school for nothing, so I assumed Butler would be smart enough to sell those extra tickets to the public.

And I was right! I went into the ticket office Wednesday to see if they had any extra tickets. I explained that I was a student and my parents had not had a chance to attend a game this season. Without hesitation, they helped me get two tickets before they even offered them to the public. Seriously, I called that morning and got the same recording telling me the tickets were sold out. Being the caring institution that Butler is, I got VIP access to the ticket office just from being a student, and my parents and I had a great weekend. For those of you who didn’t check the score, Butler won 67-62! GO DAWGS!

When I was in the midst of my college search, finding a school that offered one-one-one attention was important to me. I quickly realized that this type of care and consideration would not happen at a larger school, which is just one of the many reasons I chose Butler. I recommend that you consider the same when narrowing down your school. It can make all the difference in the world.
