Happy Friday all! If you know me, or ever seen me around campus, you know I wear a fanny pack every Friday and declare it Fanny Pack Friday. For those of you that don’t know much about it, let me educate you on the mystical day that is Fanny Pack Friday.
Fanny Pack Friday started my senior year of high school when I purchased my very first fanny pack. I got it on sale at Urban Outfitters and recognized that it would match perfectly with my school uniform. Having uniforms in high school restricted what I could wear, obviously, so I jumped at the opportunity to express my style via wearing my fanny pack as a belt. One other kid participated in Fanny Pack Friday from time to time, but it was mostly just me. Since then, my friend Alexis has been back to my high school and told me that a bunch of the senior girls started wearing fanny packs too. CAN YOU SAY TREND SETTER?!
I now own a total of five fanny packs and can assure you the journey has just begun. I neglected Fanny Pack Friday until the end of second semester last year, so I am going to participate every Friday this year. So far I haven’t missed a week. Although I am still the solitary participant, a lot of my friends and people I see around campus know that I do Fanny Pack Friday and give me shout outs when they see me rocking it. Fanny Pack Friday is not exclusive, so if you own a fanny, please feel free to participate! Another neat aspect of the fanny: I met Clinton Kelly from TLC’s “What Not to Wear” my senior year of high school around the time I started Fanny Pack Friday and told him about it. He told me he thought it was fabulous!
I post a #FannyPackFriday picture every week on my Instagram, so feel free to follow me!
Have a great weekend, #LiveToFanny, and thanks for reading
