Happy Monday everyone! Freshly Brewed and Out of the Dawg House, Butler’s female and male a Capella groups, had their spring concerts this weekend. They were both absolutely wonderful and I cannot get over how talented they all are.
Friday night was Freshly Brewed’s concert. As I have mentioned before, my friend Allie is in Freshly Brewed, so I always get extra excited to see them sing. They sang a great variety of songs ranging from “Yesterday” by The Beatles, to “Lego House” by Ed Sheeran, to a sweet Kanye mash-up. The highlight of the evening, by far, was when Allie had a solo! She sang “The Call” by Regina Spektor. I already loved this song, and hearing Allie sing it gave me goosebumps.
Satruday was Out of the Dawg House’s concert, and they were stupdenous. They sang a variety of songs as well. My fave was probably “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison. A close second, though, was “Staying Alive” by The Bee Gees. They were super entertaining and made funny commentary inbetween songs, which made the concert even better.
I’ve mentioned before how I have no musical talent whatsoever, causing me to be super excited and inspired by those who do. Both a Capella groups were so great and I loved both of the concerts so much. I even bought a Freshly Brewed sweatshirt and Out of the Dawg House t-shirt. #Number1Fan. I wore my sweatshirt yesterday and got asked several times if I was in Freshly Brewed, prompting me to explain that I’m just a creepy wanna be. #ADayInTheLife
P.S. I linked both groups’ Facebook pages, so go and like them!!
Best of luck on finals and have a great week
“The Call” performed by Freshly Brewed
Happy Music Monday! On Friday night, Freshly Brewed, the women’s a Cappella group on campus, had their first concert. As I mentioned in my post about Out of the Dawg House, I am fascinated by people with musical abilities. My friend Allie is in Freshly Brewed, so I have basically been looking forward to hearing her sing all semester!
Out of the Dawg House opened the concert and they were perfect as always (their concert was on Saturday night, but I went to the Nutcracker instead, so unfortunately I missed it)! The concert was so good! The girls sang a variety of songs, including a lot of mash-ups.They did one Harry Potter themed song where they whipped out Potter glasses, thus proving that they are in fact as cool as I thought they were. They also came and serenaded the girls in the Schwitzer lobby earlier in the week to encourage people to come to the concert. They were seriously fantastic and I cannot wait for the next concert! Here are a few of their songs! Have a fantastic week and thanks for reading
Never Let You Go
Happy Monday! Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love to sing. I sing quite often, however, my voice is absolutely vile. Because of my lack of musical ability, I go crazy when I witness other people’s musical talents.
A few weeks ago, Out of the Dawg House came and performed in the Schwitzer lobby. Out of the Dawg House is the male a Capella group at Butler, and they are beyond impressive. I was totally jazzed about watching them perform, and they did an amazing job!! Now whenever I see one of them around campus, I feel like I am seeing a celebrity because I know who they are and get really excited, but they have no idea who I am. I honestly feel like it is a matter of time before I ask one of them for an autograph.
My friend Allie is in the female a Capella group, Freshly Brewed and I cannot wait until November for their first performance! I put a few videos of Out of the Dawg House’s performance down below. Sorry for the awkward camera angle, the pillar was in the center of the room and I could not get around it. Have a great week and thanks for reading
