Love Your Body Day

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today is a joyous day not only because it’s the last day of classes until fall break, but also because it’s Love Your Body Day!

Love Your Body Day started 15 years ago in an effort to lessen the stress put on women to look “good” based on media-inspired beauty standards. The Love Your Body Day website outlines all of the venues that influence our idea of beauty on a day-to-day basis. Television shows present the main characters as tall, thin, heterosexual females, while the entire fashion industry focuses on how tall and thin models can be. The media constantly tells us what is and is not beautiful, so often times women (men, too) feel inadequate when they do not fall into this predetermined idea of what is beautiful. Obviously, that is bonkers because no one is exactly the same in any aspect of their personality, so why should we have to be the same in our appearance? 230739849

The website offers a plethora of ways to love your body not only today, but every day. My favorite way to love my body, and encourage others to love theirs, is operationbeautiful.com. Operation beautiful is a website that encourages anyone to submit pictures of inspirational notes left in public places. The website is a great way to see words of encouragement from other people, and is a great inspiration to leave words of encouragement for others, while encouraging yourself in the process. As you can tell from this previous post, as well as this one, I am all about realizing how beautiful you and are and being confident in your quirks. No two human beings are exactly alike, and I think that is both beautiful and exciting, and something worth embracing. Take a look around the Love Your Body Day site, as well as Operation Beautiful and learn some ways to love your body.

Have an awesome fall break, love your body, and thanks for reading :)
