Happy Friday to all! Today is the last day of classes before spring break. HUZZAH! Besides it being a jovial occasion due to the beginning of break, the weather is prime time right now.
A hipster llama, just cuz.
It is so sunny and beautiful and everyone is so happy to be alive. I feel like anytime people are leaving for a break of any sort, there is a certain energy on campus that indicates a break is coming. The parking lots start clearing out, the residence halls have a soft quiet that falls over them, and people just radiate a bit of excitement. Another fun aspect of today: a bunch of people dressed in tuxes and fancy dresses with plastic name tags are walking around campus in herds. There is something incredibly funny about a group of sharply dressed people wandering around in a confused daze with a laminated neon plastic tag stuck on their front. I’m not sure who they are or why they’re here, but I feel really good about it.
Back to break: I am just going home for break, but I am so excited. I can’t wait to sit on the couch and watch hours of television and movies and not feel bad about it. I’m also excited to see my friends and family who will be home at the same time. I’m not even trying to get any work done while I’m home, and I’m looking forward to just straight up chillin.
Have a glorious break, and thanks for reading
Happy Saturday all. I have been very forgetful so far this break, and I have forgotten to properly keep up with my blog; my apologies. I haven’t been doing much, but break has been treating me well.
I work at a department store whenever I am at home, and since it’s the Christmas season, I’ve naturally been working quite a bit. The day after Christmas I had to work at 5:45 a.m., so that was fun. The best part of work is my Work BFF, Erma. She’s a 60-something-year-old woman, and we’ve been working a lot together this break. Work together, friends forever.
Now available at a store near you.
My Christmas was pretty nice as well. I just spent the day at home with the fam, but it was solid. The highlight of Christmas was that my younger brother, Ben, recorded a cd of him singing several popular songs and gave that to my older brother and me as our gifts. He titled it A Very Benny Christmas. It’s stupendous.
I’ve also been spending a lot of time at this adorable coffee shop in my hometown, and I’ve decided coffee shops soothe my soul. I also officially started writing my memoir, so if you’ve ever wronged me, I’ll probably write terrible things about you.
Enjoy the rest of break and thanks for reading
P.S. I decided I’m going to start including the Word of the Day in my posts because words are fun. Today’s word, mea culpa: a formal acknowledgement of personal fault or error
Happy day everyone! The other day I decided to make it my mission to get one of my favorite Twitter accounts to follow me (because I am a very busy girl with a lot of really important things to do, and I understand the importance of priorities.) Said Twitter account is @hipstermermaid.
I blogged about this account on my summer blog, which can be seen here. Hipster mermaid is an account run by a man by the name of Braden Graeber. His Twitter bio says he’s from Los Angeles, and he “writes, builds and overthinks.” Other than that, I don’t know this dude’s story, or who he is. All I know is that he is hilarious and everything he tweets is perfect. He makes sarcastically accurate commentary on society and pop culture, and also frequently tweets about hummus. Classic combo!
He favorited one of my tweets once, and I got way more excited that I should have, so now I’ve made it my mission to get him to follow me. Totally normal. Anyhow, check out his account and give him a follow because he’s hilarious and I love him.
Have a great end of break, and thanks for reading
Happy Monday! This Music Monday is devoted to City and Colour. City and Colour is the stage name for musician Dallas Green (get it, city and color?!). Green used to be in a post-hardcore band called Alexisonfire. This is incredibly funny to me because the music he makes as City and Colour is so incredibly mellow it could not be further from hardcore. Green’s music is acoustic and melodic and is very relaxing.
He has released three albums, Sometimes, Bring Me Your Love, and Little Hell, as well as nine extended plays. Here are a few of my favorite songs by City and Colour. I hope everyone is enjoying break, and thanks for reading
“Hello, I’m in Delaware”
“Save Your Scissors”
Winter break has officially begun. Yippie skippie!!! As I said in my last post, I finished finals on Wednesday. Since I was done with finals, I went home with my roommate Ashni for the afternoon. She is from Westfield, Indiana and lives only about 20 minutes away from Butler. Westfield is close to Carmel, so while we were home, we hit up the Carmel Arts District.
This area was incredibly cool. There were a bunch of different shops and bakeries, and some really neat art galleries. My favorite aspect of the district was the various statues sprinkled throughout the area. Me being the expert model that I am, had to take a picture with each and every one of these statues. Here are a few of my faves!
Assaulting a police officer
My husband and I teaching our daughter to ride a bike.
Having a snack
Trying to steal a kiss. Don't tell my husband!
This trip was a great start to my break, and yesterday was fun too! I got home yesterday, but on my way out of town, my friend Kelsi and I hit up the mall and did some shopping, kicking our break off right. I am really looking forward to being home, relaxing, and spending time with the fam. Have a fabulous break, and thanks for reading
Happy Wednesday to all! Even though we have been on break this week, I have been incredibly busy! As I said in my post from Friday, my roommate Ashni came home with me for the first few days of break. She got to meet my friends, see the exciting city that is Peoria, Illinois, and even meet my grandma (the one who hates me). Ashni left on Sunday afternoon and I miss her already!
Ashni and my friends Ally, Breanna, and Allison
On Monday I went to Chicago with my friends Allison and Hannah to visit our friend Maddie. Maddie goes to Loyola University and she still had class on Monday and Tuesday, so we decided to visit her for a day! We got to meet Maddie’s friends and go downtown and shop. We also ate dinner at the Grande Lux Café and got a delicious molten lava cake dessert. Basically, it was a great time.

Other than that, I have been seeing lots of friends and getting excited for Thanksgiving. The whole fam is coming over to our house for Thanksgiving dinner so I have really been looking forward to it. My birthday is on Friday so I am also looking forward to that quite a bit! One more exciting tid-bit: I am going to be filming a vlog with my awkwardly-charming younger brother Ben that is going up on Friday, so watch out for that! Have a fabulous Thanksgiving and a great rest of the week! Thanks for reading
Happy Friday everyone! Everyone is heading home for Thanksgiving Break today and excitement is in the air! I am SO excited to be going home for break. My roommate Ashni is coming home with me for the first few days of break and I cannot wait for her to see my town, meet my friends, and spend time with my family! Ashni is incredibly excited too-she has had a countdown on her dry erase board for the past twenty-something days. We are friends.
Me and Ashni (I'm like, really tan.)
I am also really excited for this next week because my birthday is next Friday. I love birthdays, not just my own. I get excited for birthdays for people I don’t even know (I’m a creep, judge me). It will be great to be home for my birthday because I will get to spend it with my friends and family. I am also looking forward to catching up on television (particularly The Voice and Modern Family) and just relaxing! I have watched literally no television since I have been at school so I have fallen behind on all of my shows! I am planning on sewing a bit while I am home (who knows if that will happen) so if I make anything significant, I will definitely post some pictures!
Classic Joke of the week: What is a pilgrim’s favorite music? Plymouth Rock!
Happy Friday, have a great break, and thanks for reading
