Music Monday: Beyoncé at the Super Bowl

Happy Music Monday everyone! The Super Bowl was yesterday, and like most people living in Schwitzer hall, I only tuned in to watch the half time show. The Baltimore Ravens won 34-31 against the San Francisco 49ers, which is pretty neat I suppose, if sports are a thing you’re into. As for me, I was much more interested in Beyoncé.

Before I get into how fierce Beyoncé is, let’s take a quick minute to talk about Alicia Keys singing the National Anthem. Alicia Keys sang the “Star Spangled Banner,” putting a soulful twist on the classic and setting a new record by doing so. Keys’ rendition of the song lasted 156 seconds, breaking the previous record of 152. You go girl! Check out that performance here.

As for Beyoncé, HOT DANG! Her performance was roughly 14 minutes long, and let me tell you, never have I ever seen so much fierceness for such an extended amount of time. It was so good that I wish she performed Beytwicé. She opened the show solo and was strutting around the stage like she run the world. About halfway through her performance, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams casually popped up from underneath the stage for a freaking Destiny’s Child reunion. All I can say is, I was not ready for that jelly. SO.MUCH.SASS!

As you can tell, I thought the performance was spectacular! Beyoncé and the rest of Destiny’s Child delivered a great show. Might I remind you that Beyoncé just had a child roughly one year ago and is still able to kill it on that stage. Let this be a reminder to us all that this is Beyoncé’s world and we are just living in it. Have a wonderful week and thanks for reading :)
