About Me:

Hey, I'm Austin, and I'm currently a freshman here at Butler! I'm an ENTJ, a travel junkie, and an entrepreneur. I'm an Alpha Kappa Psi brother & True Blue Mentor, as well as being a part of Entrepreneurship & Innovation club, the volunteer center, and a student production crew member at the brand new Schrott Center. I also am a part of the student-run business, the Butler Bed Buddy. I'm always looking for something to get involved with on campus as well. Go Dawgs!

Transformation Tuesday – College Edition

Like I’ve done before, this is similar to “Throwback Thursday.” In this blog I will instead to use examples of how exactly I’ve grown throughout the semester. College honestly taught me more than I could have imagined about myself, and it’s been a great experience this far!

  1. College is hard - Socially and mentally, college is the most difficult experience I’ve had. I’ve met so many different people that I cannot imagine how my life would be without meeting them. I also learned that academically, there is nothing like college. I also cannot imagine being in high school again, going to school from 8-3 – I simply just couldn’t do it. I also nap pretty much daily!
  2. Time management - I still find it hard to balance time between my friends and school. Usually I’m with most of my friends, and even though I try to do homework it just usually doesn’t work. I’ve officially decided that studying in one of the academic buildings or even Irwin is the best setting for me to study – especially without my friends.
  3. People change - I made friends in the beginning of the year who are not nearly the same as they used to be. Or maybe they are, and I just never noticed. Some people get involved with Greek life and usually let it consume their lives or classes change at the break of the semester and you just don’t run into the same people again. I’ve learned that this happens for the best though because it’s given me the opportunity to meet other people outside of my comfort zone.

As I get register for the first semester of my sophomore year at Butler, I find myself literally stopping and thinking of how fast my freshman year flew by, and how I tried my best to take advantage of every moment I had. If I had any advice to any upcoming freshman it would be to make the most out of your freshman year of college – there’s nothing like it. Here’s a still-motion video of the Class of 2016 making a B(U), short for Be United, which was the theme of my freshman class.
