Call me crazy, but before I made it to Butler, I only jokingly ever threw around the idea of “Going Greek.” I didn’t ever think of Greek life as an opportunity for me, but once I got here, my opinions changed pretty quickly. It was clear when I got on campus that Greek life had pretty wide influence on campus, and not necessarily just social fraternities and sororities. There are also fraternities that deal with different majors/colleges on campus, including Alpha Kappa Psi, which I had mentioned before is the professional business fraternity. There’s really a “fraternity” for different perspectives around campus. Some are based on majors, including education, pharmacy, and performing arts, and there are also several honorary and service fraternities. Because these “fraternities” aren’t necessarily social fraternities, they aren’t just for men; women can join sever of them, too!
Today I received an email from a guy that’s a part of the Phi Delta Theta chapter at Butler, and I set up an interest meeting tomorrow with him and he’s also going to give me a house tour in order for me to see what Phi Delta Theta is truly about. I’m pretty excited to get to know more about the fraternity and the brothers that are a part of the organization.
I also received a bid from Alpha Kappa Psi today! I made it past the first interview, which was yesterday, and now I get to continue on with rush and get to know more about this fraternity, too. Because Alpha Kappa Psi isn’t a part of the same type of fraternity organization, I’m also allowed the opportunity to get to know and potentially rush to be a part of Phi Delta Theta. It all might sound confusing (because it was at first..trust me), but I’m starting to get used to it. I can’t wait to find out more about both fraternities, and I will definitely post more about them when I find more out!
Thanks for reading! Here’s a picture of my friend Jensey and I at Sky Zone last week, which was a blast! And also, here’s a song that’s been stuck in my head lately. Enjoy!
