Although spring is technically here calendar wise, spring weather is right around the corner! With spring also comes a variety of different music festivals, too. I find myself to be a big concert-goer, and I take advantage of a good show anytime I can. Like Andre said in one of his most recent posts, the Lollapalooza lineup was recently released, and I wish more than anything that I could go! Unfortunately it’s in the middle of summer, and I live about 9ish hours from Chicago, and it just ultimately wouldn’t be worth it for how much I’d have to scalp tickets for.
There are several good festivals that I’m actually considering going to, which are closer than Chicago. I really would love to attend the Firefly Festival in Dover, Delaware, but it’s about the same distance from my house as Chicago is, so it wouldn’t really be worth it, either! I’m probably going to be attending the Bunbury Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. It includes bands such as FUN., MGMT, The National, Walk the Moon, and more! MGMT is who I’m most excited for, because I saw FUN. when they toured with Paramore and opened for them in 2010. Here are a few of the songs that I became addicted to when I (and most people) first got addicted to MGMT. Check them out!
Kids – MGMT
Electric Feel – MGMT
Since I will be traveling back to Butler this weekend as well as being alone practically all week, I’ve decided to update my iPhone (it’s weird saying that) with a bunch of new music.
To start out with, I downloaded the entire “Breakfast” album by Chiddy Bang, which is and American “pop-rap” duo consisting of “Chiddy” Anamege and Noah Beresin. Coincidentally, Butler’s SGA got Chiddy Bang to play at this year’s Butlerpalooza, and I got a chance to see them. I had liked them before, but I never really got into them as much as I am now, and I can’t stop listening to them. They truly have a unique sound, and I really wish I could go back in time and see them again now that I’m really into them!
It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite song, but if I were to have one it would probably be a tie between both “Whatever We Want” and “Happening.” Both have really good intro music, which usually determines the entire song for me due to being hooked in the beginning. Check both out here!
Whatever We Want
Unless you don’t own some sort of calendar or for some reason just don’t know what the date is today, it is December 21st, which is the day the Mayan calendar “ends.” Yeah, we saw how well that worked out! I remember thinking of today when I was a kid in 4th or 5th grade and being terribly afraid of what to expect, and it’s just so crazy seeing how far I’ve come since then!
Speaking of the “end of the world,” Ke$ha’s new album Warrior (featuring Die Young) was just released a few weeks ago, and I’ve had it on repeat ever since being home. Warrior in particular is my favorite song, but I do really like all of the songs all together. Give it a listen, and I’d definitely recommend purchasing it because all of the songs are good!
P.s. – this was posted using my iPhone 5 yet again!
First and foremost- HAPPY FRIDAY! I’m SO thankful it’s finally Friday, because I had a rough, yet interesting week. From exams to papers and assignment due left and right, I cannot wait to just relax…which won’t happen until Sunday. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though, because I have my “Get Real” event on Saturday.
The “Get Real” event is hosted by the College of Business for the introductory business course that all business majors take. Basically what it is, is an adventure course consisting of high-ropes and low-ropes courses used to create a team-bonding experience/atmosphere. We have to do it as a class because we’re required to write a business plan by the end of the semester, therefore we are going to see how well we work together as a team. I enjoy my team members and I’m very interested to see as to how well we work together in a physical environment. It’ll be interesting.
After the event, I’m going with a bunch of friends on Saturday night to a “Sk80’s” event that SGA is hosting where everyone is supposed to dress up in 80’s clothing and we’re going roller skating. It’s going to be an interesting night considering I don’t own a single item of clothing that looks vintage; I’m more into it because my friends are dressing up and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
P.s. The title is just a Lana Del Rey lyric, nothing in particular. She’s the top played artist on my iTunes right now…haha. Check her out, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Lana Del Rey taking the top 4 spots, actually.

Today, like most days for the past week, it rained on campus. I like rainy days occasionally, but campus isn’t as lively as I’d like for it to be on rainy days! Also, I have discovered that I don’t own appropriate rain “gear” to make it in Indiana. I guess I’m not really that prepared for the rain here is because in Tennessee the rain water is constantly flowing…but Tennessee also has a lot more hills than Indiana. So when campus floods, I’m usually drenched and my shoes are SOAKED because the campus is flat, but I’m slowly beginning to learn the Indiana/Butler ways of life.
Although I’m not a huge fan of rain, the campus is always prettier right after a rain shower…always. Yesterday was the nicest it has been on campus in a while, so my friend Jensey and I took advantage of it and laid around in her hammock! We hung it up right outside of Atherton Union in between two trees. I had never actually laid in a hammock before, either, and I’m not sure if that’s strange, but I hope not! Regardless, it was INCREDIBLE!
My friend Jensey and I just "hanging out"
Dr. Johnson, Butler’s Vice President for Student Affairs, stopped by while my friends Katie and Jensey were laying in it and took their picture, and he even posted it on his Twitter! He loved the fact that we were all relaxing while studying, or attempting to at least. Anyways, the hammock was amazing, and we can’t hang in it when it’s raining outside, so I’m looking forward to finding more great spots to “hang out” around campus when it gets nicer!
As for now, I will leave you guys with one of my favorite songs by my favorite band Passion Pit. Coincidentally, my neighbors were just blasting it, so I’m gonna have to stop by and compliment them on their music taste. Take a listen, enjoy, and have a great afternoon!
