About Me:

Hey, I'm Austin, and I'm currently a freshman here at Butler! I'm an ENTJ, a travel junkie, and an entrepreneur. I'm an Alpha Kappa Psi brother & True Blue Mentor, as well as being a part of Entrepreneurship & Innovation club, the volunteer center, and a student production crew member at the brand new Schrott Center. I also am a part of the student-run business, the Butler Bed Buddy. I'm always looking for something to get involved with on campus as well. Go Dawgs!

I guess you could call it an epiphany,

As I’m sitting here, listening to the conversations around me “Oh, you’re flying to Atlanta, too?” “Yeah, it’s just a connection though. I’m flying to Minneapolis.” “Oh! I’m connecting and then flying to Houston!” I can’t help but wonder – what caused this? How can I sit here in one place now, and then in two hours be sitting somewhere 600 miles away, only waiting to be 600 miles further away yet again? How did the world become this connected?

I do love this concept, though. I’ve been tossing around the idea of staying connected, and I can’t wait for my future – not necessarily that I want to rush the next few years of college, but for the fact that I love being connected and being a part of something bigger. I’ve recently decided that I do want to double major in International Business & Marketing, and this has been brought on by the thought of maintaining a network with the expanding global economy and society. The world is growing and changing, and I want to be a part of it on the front line. That sounds really cheesy, but I’ve always loved the idea of International Business.

What brought on this “epiphany” is the fact that I’m currently sitting in an airport – waiting for my AirTran flight back to Atlanta, and then further onto Washington D.C. You could say that I’m obsessed with the city, or with flying, but I can’t help it. It gives me such an adrenaline rush. I do plan on studying abroad with my International Business degree, but I also plan on doing the Semester in Washington program that Butler sponsors.

That’s all the time I have for now, but I actually will only be in D.C. only temporarily – until Tuesday – and then I’ll be home for Thanksgiving. It will be the first time I actually get to be home in over three months. Here’s a song appropriate to flying, but also what got me through to 6AM this morning when writing a paper. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!
