Butler Visit #1

Coming home to the United States necessitated two visits: my home in Fort Wayne, and my second home at Butler University. In leaving Italy, I had these two places to look forward to, in effect distracting my mind from what I was leaving. After returning to my home in Fort Wayne, it was only a matter of time before I knew I would need to return to Butler.

It was an odd moment of returning. I was there to visit friends: friends from freshman year, from my fraternity (Phi Delta Theta), from the English Department, or just the random people that I’ve met over the years.

What my two days of visit turned into was a string of meetings that left me exhausted and with a face sore from smiling and recounting stories. The only problem was that two days was not nearly enough. Not to mention that I had actual business to take care of–meeting with my landlord, meeting with the fantastic Kristen Raves–and planning for my summer return to the Butler campus. The trip was well worth it, and left me looking forward to my return to butler as a resident.

Well I’m certainly glad to hear that! Here’s what I know: there’s a group that meets downtown by the Library. The field is on N Meridian Street and E North Street. I am not aware of a schedule for the summer, but that would be my first suggested place to look. Last summer there was a group of college aged kids who would meet at the Butler Bowl (right next to Hinkle Field House. A Google search should help you find that) Tuesday and Thursday night around 8. Again, I haven’t been looking around enough to get you any certain places or times, but I will be on the lookout soon, so I’ll keep you posted.

    Andrew,

Crazy as it sounds, when I search google for butler university and Ultimate frisbee, your blog is the only thing that comes up. Props for building a brand for yourself. It will pay dividends when you graduate and perspective employers Google you (yes, they do that).
Anyways. To the chase…I moved to Indianapols 2 years ago for work and have really struggled to find a regular pickup group for Ultimate…Ive heard some groups play around Butler with some regularity…any chance you could point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    Jed Hefner

Awww, thanks Andrew! I am so excited to have you back in the states. I look forward to hearing your stories this summer.
