Set Fire To The Rain

The weather has been awkwardly depressing lately. Not only has it been cold, it has been drizzling/raining. I’ve had to start wearing my jacket and bundling up. I guess fall is coming with a vengeance this year. I’ve been listening to Adele to prepare myself for this weather and so far it has been working.

With October just starting, I can’t help but think about how soon Halloween is. I think I also might actually dress up this year! So far I have no idea what I want to be but I’m sure I’ll think of something. I’m thinking of visiting my friends at IU for Halloween so that should be fun.

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been extremely beautiful lately and I recently went to Chicago to enjoy it. My friend Jessica and I walked around the city to see all the people, to pick up a new book, and to get things out of her locker at Colombia University.

We ended up going to a restaurant called Eleven City Diner for lunch and it was delicious! I got turkey sliders and I couldn’t even finish them all! I am really looking forward to going back and trying something else as there were so many things on the menu that looked good.

My favorite part of the day was sitting out by the beach and starting to read my book! I ended up getting a book called Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. From what I understand so far, it combines elements of the Civil War and vampires. Sounds fun!

Our view by the beach! It was such a beautiful day!

Random Birthdays

Friday night I was minding my own business when I got a call from my friend Jill who said she was in town visiting our friend Braelyn who turned 20 that night and invited me to come. Of course I’m not one to turn down a party invitation, so I went!

When I got there, there were about a million people. I worked my way through the crowd and found Jill and saw that a lot of my friends from high school were there too. I ended up having a great time talking with everyone but had to cut my visit early since there was an ice storm outside and I didn’t want to get stuck at the party. Thank goodness the weather got better as I got back to my dorm.

To prepare for the party, I foolishly drank a five hour energy drink and was up until about 4 am. Needless to say I’m still tired today. That being said, I’ll probably go take a nap right now!

Here's a picture of us congratulating the birthday girl!

Wet Christmas

Break has been wonderful so far! I can literally say I have done nothing but eat, sleep, and watch television every day so far which is exactly how I like it! I’ve also been able to catch up on all the episodes of Fear Factor I’ve missed this season! I’ve also developed a new strange love for UFC. I’ve been watching it nonstop and I even bought the 100 Best UFC fights of all time on DVD as an early Christmas present to myself!

I also found out that I’m going to be assistant sports editor for the Collegian next semester, which probably explains my new UFC obsession! I’m really excited since sports is a new world to me so it’ll be interesting to see how I do at my new position. I’ve been watching ESPN daily to try to catch myself up on the latest sports news!

The best thing about break has been the fact that it hasn’t snowed and has been raining instead! I have mixed emotions toward snow. I only enjoy it when it has the potential to cancel classes and school but other than that, I’d prefer not to be bothered! I hate slipping on ice and having to clean off my car! Maybe I’ll get lucky and not have a terrible winter like last year!

^This is the only thing that would make me slightly enjoy the snow and cold weather!

Noah’s Ark

It has been raining for the past couple of days and JUST HASN’T STOPPED! Today I made the mistake of leaving my dorm without my umbrella and have been getting wet ever since. I’m currently drying my wet feet in my room in front of my lamp! Hopefully I’ll get warm and toasty soon!!!

It’s weird to think classes are ending in less than two weeks. It seems like the semester just started! I just got off of Thanksgiving break and now I’m looking forward to winter break! Well, I’m looking forward to everything except the cold and snow. I saw on the news that it is supposed to snow today so I’m hoping winter doesn’t come too early!!

Right before break started, my friend Jill, who goes to IU, came and visited Indianapolis to go to a local antiques shop! I stopped by and we had fun picking out different items! I almost got these authentic cowboy boots for $20 but decided against it as I don’t have anything to wear them with. I ended up not getting anything but I plan to go back another day when I’ll have more time to look around and find something I want/need!

This is me and Jill's roommate Kelly! Disregard the funny faces!

Where’s the Turkey!?

A week from today I will be on my way home for Thanksgiving break! I cannot wait for that day to come! I have been so busy that I will need the break. Hopefully next week goes by fast! I am excited to be able to go home and visit my family, relax in my bed, and EAT!

Something unexpected that happened today was that it started to snow. Though I used to love it when I was younger, I really dislike the snow! It just makes everything unnecessarily cold and slippery! I’m not liking it one bit! Winter definitely came fast this year! Hopefully we don’t get another ice storm like last year (except if it cancels classes for three days again!). I successfully managed not to fall and slip on the ice last year and I plan to do the same this year.

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share a Michael Bublé video! I want it to snow only if it means a class cancelation will be in my near future!!

Goodbye Summer

Today might have been one of the coldest days, EVER! I definitely regret complaining during the summer for it being too hot. It’s been raining and cloudy all day so now I am counting the days until summer comes around!

To try to take my mind away from the depressing weather, I have been doing homework all day.

My most enjoyable assignment was having to watch the news. For my Converged Journalism class, we have to watch a national newscast and a local newscast and analyze the imagery and sounds used in them to learn more about effective broadcast news strategies. During the semester, we have to shoot and write our own news segment about a certain topic. I’m really excited for it because I love learning new things and I’ve always wanted to learn how to edit videos and now I will!

Since we’re talking about watching the news, I thought I’d share this funny video of what news anchors really do during commercial breaks.

Rain Rain Go Away…

It has been incessantly raining today and I’m not liking it one bit! I had to scurry to my dorm after class because I forgot to bring my umbrella! I’ll definitely be checking the weather from now on! The weird part about it was that the lawn sprinklers were still running while it was pouring rain! I guess the grass just needs that much water!

My art class is holding an art show this week in the Reilly Room! All the art we’ve done in class this semester will be on display. The show is on Thursday and should be a lot of fun. I went to the art show last semester and loved all the pieces! You can see our class blog here.

Spoke Too Soon!

So it is raining today. I got so excited yesterday since it was so hot out. But it was nice to at least get one day on warmth in! I’m sure once June rolls around it’ll be nice and hot! But for now, I guess I’ll just have to leave my shorts in the closet and pull out my jeans.

I am part of the College Democrats group at Butler and I’m helping to set up our visit to the Capitol. It should be really fun. I got to get a tour of the Capitol this summer in Ambassadors of Change where freshmen got to move in a week early and get to know each other while doing service projects around the city. It is definitely something I recommend to all incoming freshmen! It was a great way to make friends coming into college and it was great to be able to give back to the community.

Here is a video explaining Ambassadors of Change:

Summer is FINALLY here!

So it is like 80 degrees outside which makes me happy because it is finally getting warmer! I am currently sporting my shorts and flip flops and will go outside and enjoy it. I have a project in my British Literature class which I am taking pictures of myself enjoying nature to relate it to the romantic period so it will be a blast.

In other important news, the Rock of Ages musical is coming to Clowes Hall this week and I really want to go. I’m not sure how much tickets are but Constantine from American Idol is the lead actor so I’m totally stoked!

That’s all for today! I gotta go get my book and read it outside for the beautiful day!!!
