Television Tuesday: Netflix Boredom

Now that I have time to relax on break instead of being busy during the semester, I’ve decided to invest in a good book and Netflix. The first show I decided to watch once I got Netflix was House of Cards. It’s about a Congressman who works the political system to do things for his own benefit and to get his way. I started watching it since I’m going to be living in D.C. next semester so it got me excited to start living there. It’s not an edge of your seat drama but it’s more of a “How will he get out if this one?”

While I wait on the second season to come out in February, I’ve decided to start watching the show Sherlock. It’s a modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes and comes at an appropriate time since I’ve begun reading a collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories. It sounds nerdy, I know, but it makes me feel pretentious.

American Horror Story

American Horror Story is the scariest and most graphic show I’ve ever seen and I love it! I’ve decided to make a quick vlog showing the effects its been having on me and my sleep depravation! It’s a show about a house that if people die in it, then their ghost stays there forever. The second season is supposed to be based in a mental institution so I can’t wait! Jessica Lange is supposed to play the head of the mental institution so I’m really excited because she was excellent in the first season.

Home Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

I’m FINALLY home! I arrived last night since I don’t have Friday classes. Since I was already home just a matter of days ago, it sort of feels the same. I, sadly, still have not snapped out of the waking up early for classes mood yet but don’t worry, I’ll get there eventually! For right now, I’m more excited about being able to eat some good home-cooked food!

Last night to celebrate being home, I decided to watch Jersey Shore. I saw that Snooki is pregnant so I wanted to watch her antics this season. This is the first episode I’ve watched this season since the third so you would think that I’ve missed a lot. But no, it’s the same antics, different episode. I got so bored after just 15 minutes that I turned my TV off and went to bed. I think I’m officially done watching the Shore and am instead looking forward to Snooki and JWOWW’s spinoff show! She’s the only reason I watch J-Shore so I’m excited for her own show!

Here’s a song thats gotten be in the mood for being home

Jersey Bore

Last night was the big season premiere of the fifth season of Jersey Shore and it was the most boring episode ever.

The episode started with this fake drama about what rooms each of the cast members would take. Of course it got resolved with them all taking the same room they each always had the past four seasons. Then they all go to a party where Snooki and The Situation continue the fight they had last season in Italy which is really old now but of course they drug the fight out during the whole episode.

Then Vinny is randomly homesick and misses his family, although he’s like 24 and should’ve gotten over that already. He decides to go home, which makes me cry tears of joy since he’s my least favorite cast member. But, spoiler alert, he comes back two episodes later which resolves his fake drama.

At the end of the episode they had a teaser for the rest of the season which looked boring as well. The Situation got into a fight with Snooki (again), they go party, and all make up at the end. The same exact thing happened last season and the season before…. This season better get better or I’ll have to find a new guilty pleasure fast! Hopefully this is the last season so Snooki can have her own show! She’s the only reason I watch anyway!

Merry (Late) Christmas!

Christmas has passed and it was a fun day! I started it by going to church with my family. Then we came home and ate ourselves silly! I could NOT get enough of the apple pie my grandma made and I also probably ate my weight in mashed potatoes too! I’ll be sure to workout twice as hard the rest of this week!!

My favorite part, of course, were the presents! I got everything I wanted and I cannot wait to go shopping this week with all the gift cards I got! I would have gone today but I’m 100% sure traffic was CRAZY! Instead, I spent my day watching episodes of The Office on DVD. My favorite episode is, coincidentally, the Christmas Party episode.

Angela is my favorite character and she has a big part in the episode which is probably why I like it so much! The only part I don’t like about her is her weird obsession with cats. Although kittens can be cute, I will forever be a dog person! They are much friendlier and you can train them to do tricks! Cats just lay around……. #dogsrule

Here’s a video of Angela displaying her awkward cat obsession

I’m Getting Married!!!

Today is the big day! No, I’m not getting married, I get to go home for Thanksgiving break! That means I get a WHOLE week at home to see my family and friends! After my class today I am going to drive home. Maybe now that I’m home I’ll be able to get the clothes from Topman I want!

Over break I plan to catch up on all the shows I’ve been missing lately, including The X Factor and Two & a Half Men. I just heard yesterday how Ashton Kutcher from Two and a Half Men is getting divorced from Demi Moore. I feel really bad for him since he’s one of my favorite actors. Hopefully he’ll be able to still focus on his acting! Here is the show’s cheesy promo with Ashton:

On The X Factor my favorite contestant is Drew, who is 14 but sings like she is wayy older! Here is a video of her singing in the latest episode:

Fall Break is here!

Well, fall break isn’t here quite yet but it’ll officially be here after my class on Wednesday! I’m so excited to be able to go home and not do any work! I have so many things planned! I want to go to Chicago with my friends from home, eat Chipotle, and visit my friends at Loyola University. Hopefully I have enough time to do it all! I also have some projects for school to do too! Needless to say, I’ll probably still end up being stressed over break too.

This past weekend also marked my fourth consecutive weekend of going shopping at the mall which may mean one of two things. 1. I’ve been catching some really good deals or 2. I have a shopping problem….. I think I’m leaning toward number 1! My new favorite store to hit up is Banana Republic. They even have a Mad Men clothing collection so now I can dress like the cast from the show! I’m a new Mad Men fan so this is very exciting.

I thought I’d lighten the mood with a Mad Men inspired Sesame Street skit

Expanding Social Horizons

This week Google+ opened to the public and I decided to make an account! Sadly, I was not cool enough to be invited originally. But, I’ve still not hopped on the Facebook bandwagon. I used to have one but never quite got into the spirit of things!

I’ve also been reading the LA Times every day this week. It’s probably because I would LOVE to live on the west coast so it makes me feel like I’m part of their culture. I’d love to get a job in California after college, maybe even working for Google!

My Spanish class for tomorrow was canceled so now I can stay up late tonight and catch up on all the shows I missed, including Modern Family!

This is a random photo of me on New Year's Day! I can't wait until that time next year!

Best Week Ever!

I just want to start this post by saying this week will be the best week ever in recorded history. This is because not only is The X Factor premiering this week but also, Modern Family is starting! I just have to try to find time to watch them both between all of my work.

Last week, College Democrats had its first ever meeting and we had two guest speakers. We had members from the Obama and Joe Donnelly campaigns come tell us about local volunteer and internship opportunities. I am really excited to start getting politically involved this year, especially since it’ll be the first year I’ll be old enough to vote for President.

Here’s a preview for The X Factor! I can’t wait for it to start Wednesday!

Things I’m Excited For

So there are a lot of events coming soon this semester and I thought I’d share some of the ones I am looking forward to.

The Fray are coming to Clowes next Friday. I unfortunately did not get tickets but they were only $15! I regret not getting any on time. I’m sure they’ll put on a great show.

I am also pretty excited to go see Paranormal Activity 3. I am usually terrified of scary movies but for some reason, after watching the trailer, I want to see it! It comes out in October so I have a while to make my final decision!

Here’s the trailer for the movie:

The thing I am most excited about is going to see the Nutcracker by the Butler Ballet. It’s a big event every winter and last year I did not get to go! But this year, I am determined to make it to at least ONE showing.

I am so pretty stoked for the season premiere of Modern Family this month as well. It is one of my favorite shows and is pretty hilarious. I’m curious what changes are going to be in store this season!

This is a funny clip from last year:
