Today is the last day for students to leave the residence halls, marking the official end of the semester. I’m going to be a Summer RA this summer so fortunately for me, I don’t have to move out just yet! But it’s also sad since it means all my friends and residents will soon be gone. I have definitely been a little sad checking out all my residents from their rooms and seeing campus slowly but surely get emptier and emptier.
So last night my friend Alan had a last gathering in his room last night. It was our friend Arielle’s birthday so we made sure to sing to her! None of us are graduating just yet so we still have all of next year to hang and get chummy! It’s so weird how fast the end of the year came.
Alan, Arielle, and I doing our best Charlie's Angels impression.
On one of the last days of RA training, Reslife set up an obstacle course in the HRC for us. We were divided into teams and our team decided to call ourselves Team Hope. FOr about an hour we did various activities such as skipping around the track, cycling, running up and down stairs, and running in the gym. All the events took about an hour.
After the obstacle course we all did a group yoga session in the HRC basement. It was a great way to relax and unwind after all the running of before. It was especially pleasing since it was the first time all year I had done physical activity of any kind
besides dancing around my room and it was nice to finally be able to sit down and reflect on how out of shape I am. Our team ended up getting third place but, in our defense, one of the other teams had a Physical education major!
So today the residence halls officially closed which means if you’re an RA you have to inspect rooms and check out residents. But, of course I waited until the last minute to pack and empty my trash so that’s how I spent my last night on campus. I stayed up until 1 packing and dancing around my room. When I decided to take out my trash, there was seriously a mountain of trash in the trash room. I guess everyone else had the same idea as me to pack late too! I eventually fell asleep and had to wake up at 6 to check out one of my residents.
I also have breaking news in my life… I got rid of my Justin Bieber cardboard cutout. He was a great roommate but we had our differences. I will hopefully be replacing him next semester. I can’t decide if I should get a new cardboard cutout or get a plant. I’ll probably get a plant so I can perform experiments on it #strange.
The unnecessary amount of trash in the trash room.
As I wait for people to start moving in today, I thought it would be a good time to blog before things get hectic on campus later. I’m mostly excited for Block Party later so I can get some free things and explore and join clubs I wasn’t able to last year. I’m also excited to reunite with all my friends once they move in.
Impatiently waiting for residents to arrive and displaying how tired I am...
I have already received assignments for some of my classes so I’ll start doing those to entertain me this morning. I only have to read for two classes and they shouldn’t take me long to do so I probably will still be bored. Well, I guess I’ll get back to doing my job!
As I’ve previously posted, I have become a new fan of the Dallas Cowboys and I decided to take a break from watching their preseason game to blog about my time back at Butler so far!
Although I’ve had a lot of things to do for Reslife as an RA, one of the fun things I’ve gotten to do is put together my bulletin boards in my unit. In my building, we have to put together 5 bulletin boards each and it has been one of the funnest times I’ve had.
I’m not really one of the most artistic of people so it has definitely been interesting deciding what to put on my boards without being too artistic but also looking creative and nice. I have the International unit so I already have a theme to go off of. I’ve done 3 of my 5 boards so far and they’re due by Friday so I’d say I’m in a pretty good position right now!
My first board!
