Yesterday lightning struck the Butler power center and knocked out the power on campus. Fortunately I was off campus shopping for most of it but when I got back, I had to sit in the dark. Most of the buildings on campus didn’t have power but eventually they all came on except for my building. Just my luck!
As it was slowly getting darker outside, I had to find numerous ways to entertain myself. Many people in my unit resorted to playing board games in the hallways. First I tried watching movies on my laptop but eventually my battery ran low. Then I searched around on my phone and played games and discovered new apps! The one that was most helpful in the situation was the flashlight app that I had to use to manuver the hallways.
Once it was completely dark outside, I decided to brave the dark and go visit my friend Maisie in Schwitzer and use her resources to charge my phone. After waiting for hours, I decided I was too tired and was going to go to my room whether it was dark or not and go to bed. To my surprise all the lights were on and power was restored! It was the most glorious moment of my life. I was done living like the Amish!
It actually ended up being unexpectedly fun, but I’d rather not go through it again.
